The Art Association of Randolph County fosters creativity through accessible art education and community engagement, offering programs that inspire artistic expression and celebrate local talent.

This summer, something beautiful is unfolding at the Arts Depot. We&rsquo;re excited to introduce a new creative experience, Art Mobile by Pam Fraizer, hosted by the Arts Depot&mdash;designed to bring real art-making directly to our community. This summer&#39;s sessions will be inspired by the bold, joyful work of Alma Thomas, a groundbreaking artist known for her vibrant color and rhythmic patterns. Students will:<ul data-end="1230" data-start="967" fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li data-end="1040" data-section-id="t9lmye" data-start="967" fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Experiment with color, pattern, and movement through guided exercises</li><li data-end="1082" data-section-id="1x8zz2n" data-start="1041" fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Design their own original composition</li><li data-end="1140" data-section-id="1xgy5z4" data-start="1083" fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Create a large-scale canvas painting to take home</li><li data-end="1230" data-section-id="5p2o3b" data-start="1141" fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Receive their own set of paints and two high-quality brushes to continue creating</li></ul>This is more than an art class&mdash;it&rsquo;s an opportunity for students to think like artists, make meaningful choices, and experience the process from idea to finished work.✨ Two age-based sessions:<ul data-end="1487" data-start="1426" fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li data-end="1433" data-section-id="11xfxb7" data-start="1426" fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">K&ndash;3</li><li data-end="1487" data-section-id="tsyuhs" data-start="1434" fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Grades 4&ndash;6 (with optional mentorship opportunities)</li></ul>We&rsquo;ll also celebrate their work with a community gallery exhibition later this summer&mdash;a highlight from last year&rsquo;s program. With arts programming becoming more limited, this is the perfect moment to create something meaningful, lasting, and accessible.

Mobile Art Studio: Alma Thomas &ndash; Color, Rhythm &amp; JoyThe Arts Depot&rsquo;s new Mobile Art Studio launches this spring with a vibrant exploration of artist Alma Thomas, a groundbreaking painter known for her joyful use of color and rhythmic brushstrokes.In this 90&ndash;120 minute session, students (grades K&ndash;6) will:&bull; Learn about Alma Thomas and her contribution to contemporary art&bull; Explore how repetition and color create movement and emotion&bull; Experiment with brush techniques and color combinations&bull; Create their own abstract painting inspired by nature and personal expressionThis is more than a craft activity.Mobile Art Studio is designed to build creativity, confidence, and critical thinking through meaningful artist-focused learning.All materials are provided. No prior art experience is necessary.Students leave with both a finished artwork and a deeper understanding of how art communicates feeling and energy.

Night Gallery: A Celebration of the MacabreSaturday, October 17, 2026 | The Arts Depot When the lights go down, the stories begin... Join us for Night Gallery: A Celebration of the Macabre, an immersive fall evening where art, atmosphere, storytelling, food, and a touch of the unexpected come together inside the historic Arts Depot. Explore the gallery and settle in as storytellers share ghost stories, urban legends, strange encounters, eerie tales, and dramatic readings. Some stories may be local. Some may be literary. Some may even be true. This isn&#39;t your typical gallery opening. Night Gallery is an evening designed to be experienced&mdash;mysterious, theatrical, creative, and just a little unsettling. Tickets: $35 per person Admission includes the complete Night Gallery experience, entertainment, food, and refreshments. Beer and wine will be available for guests 21+. And while Night Gallery promises a wonderfully spooky evening, it also serves a larger purpose. Proceeds help support the Arts Depot and the exhibitions, arts education, community programs, and creative experiences we&#39;ll bring to our community in 2027. Come for the art. The Depot Murder MysterySaturday, November 14, 2026 | The Arts DepotSecrets. Suspicion. Surprises. A killer evening. Step into a world of 1960s espionage, intrigue, and deception for this year&#39;s Depot Murder Mystery.For one night, the Arts Depot becomes the setting for an interactive spy-thriller where nothing&mdash;and no one&mdash;is quite what they seem. You&#39;ll encounter suspicious characters, hidden motives, unexpected clues, and one mystery that needs to be solved before the evening is over. This isn&#39;t a traditional stage production. The mystery unfolds around you. Watch the characters, follow the clues, compare suspicions with your tablemates, and see if you can determine who can&mdash;and can&#39;t&mdash;be trusted. Your evening includes dinner, drinks, entertainment, and the complete interactive Murder Mystery experience. Tickets: $50 per personCome dressed for the era if you&#39;d like&mdash;1960s cocktail attire, glamorous international intrigue, spies and villains are all welcome&mdash;but costumes are absolutely optional. And while we&#39;re planning a killer evening, this event also supports something very much alive: the Arts Depot.
