A good and wise friend talked our director out of all that overhead when buildings were offered at little or no cost owned by the City of Houston. We are an online virtual internet station. We believe a lot of the resources we have come to depend aren't going to be as available as they once were. We believe that small circles of democracy around retired or even active email lists could make a lot of difference. We plan to spread the word. A world that places power and profit over people will find itself in moral decay. Too often injustice operates behind a curtain of truth, disguising oppression as order and silence as peace. A MAJOR INITIATIVE OF THE ARM PROGRAM IS BOOK PUBLISHING about the journeys our visual, performing, and literary artists have taken. While doing this in coordination with our preservation program we hold awareness events seeking to educate the community about how to document their artworks as well as explain how important an archive is when it's time for the artist to sum up their life's work. An archive is a chronological record of everything from the earliest photos of friends and family in an artist's life until the time their book gets published. Not only the headline articles about an artist exhibitions, performances, and reviews, but also the evidence of what happens in the background and in between these events. These items are called ephemerals and oftentimes only discovered after an artist's passing. We'd like to emphasize by holding Gallery talks and instruct that there's no time like now to start gathering those materials.Our aim is to support projects that give writers, musicians, composers, and artists the time to pursue their passions in later years, time they might not have had while balancing careers and family. Later in life it also might be a great idea to fund books about the artists we know and love. These suggestions come from our Advisory Council and are finalized by our Board of Governors. The same way the ARMOND Awards (click here) funds our Shelter program, we collect donations and have an event in the Fall, the "Rescue Station Cabaret " dinner and presentations with a seasonal costume and nightclub atmosphere to fund our PROVIDE programs.
