Augusta Community Sailing is buying new Sunfish sailboats, the boat that has taught more Americans to sail than any other design. This is the boat that carries our summer. Every year, sail camp is where these boats work hardest, a full fleet on the water at once, kids learning to steer, to capsize and recover, to come back in grinning and soaked. And through the season, they're the boats our sailing community can rig up and take out on a good afternoon. Our Sunfish fleet has aged past the point where it can carry that load. Ten boats is a full camp session, which means more people on the water at once. Every boat funded here is owned by ACS — a registered 501(c)(3) — and dedicated to community instruction, youth programs, and scholarship sailors. Your gift is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We're raising $20,000 to put the full fleet in the water for the spring 2027 season. ACS is debt-free and community-funded, and we intend to stay that way: these boats get bought when they're paid for. Gifts are restricted to the purchase and outfitting of Sunfish sailboats for Augusta Community Sailing. If contributions exceed what the fleet requires, the ACS board will direct the surplus to fleet safety, maintenance, and instruction.
