Austin Academy of Burlesque

The Austin Academy of Burlesque empowers individuals through the art of burlesque, fostering self-expression, confidence, and community. They offer classes that celebrate body positivity and creativity, making burlesque accessible to all.

Quarter 2 Workshops&nbsp;Once each quarter, the Academy hosts a collaborative workshop designed to give students and performers personalized support on their creative process. These workshops provide a space to receive constructive feedback, explore new ideas, and brainstorm with Academy instructors and fellow students. Participants are encouraged to bring whatever stage of an act they&rsquo;re developing, an initial concept, a visual theme, a costume idea, music choices, choreography, or a nearly finished piece. Whether you&rsquo;re stuck on a specific element or simply want fresh perspectives, this session is built to help you move your act forward. Each participant will have 10 minutes of dedicated workshop time to share their idea and receive focused feedback.

In this quarter, students enhance their performance toolkit by learning how to work with common burlesque props, costume, and tease elements. From boas, fans, and robes, to chairs and floorwork, students explore how to move with, and be supported by, their props and costumes to elevate stage presence. Emphasis is placed on integrating technique with storytelling, musicality, and confidence, helping students transform everyday costume pieces into extensions of their performance persona. This quarter is ideal for anyone looking to add flair, drama, and dynamic texture to their movement. Students may enroll in the full 6-class Burlesque Foundations Series at a special bundle rate of $150, or choose to take individual classes for $30 each. This quarter guides students through the creative process of building a burlesque act from concept to choreography.
