Carry the Legacy Forward.While searching for his brother, a veteran of the French and Indian War, James Mayo Hoge found his future wife and established a home on land he named Hayfield, now Belle Hampton Farm in Dublin, Virginia. Since 1767, the property has remained within the extended Hoge family for seven generations, standing as a remarkable testament to stewardship, perseverance, and legacy. On September 6, 2026, the Belle Hampton Legacy Center will host a 250-Year National Celebration honoring Belle Hampton&rsquo;s founding and America&rsquo;s 250th anniversary. Held at the Shuffle Back Pond Pavilion, the event will invite guests to experience the people, places, and stories that helped shape Southwestern Virginia.Guests will view exclusive footage cut from the PBS documentary Resolved to Live or Die, tour the historic main house, and visit the family cemetery, where three Revolutionary War soldiers are buried. Exhibits will explore the family&rsquo;s impact on business, military service, politics, farming, religion, and community leadership. History will come alive through engaging speakers, historical reenactments, period demonstrations, storytelling, crafts, family activities, and the dramatic firing of a historic cannon. Regional food from Back Creek Wagyu will celebrate Belle Hampton&rsquo;s continuing agricultural heritage and connection to the land.More than a commemoration, the celebration reflects the mission of the Belle Hampton Legacy Center: to preserve historic places and family stories, educate families about stewardship and generational continuity, and equip the rising generation to carry their legacies forward with purpose. This gathering is an invitation to walk where history happened, honor those who came before us, and inspire future generations to continue the story. Let&rsquo;s celebrate our heritage, remember our heroes, and continue the story together.
