Belmont Heights Community Association

Belmont Heights Community Association fosters community engagement through volunteerism, supporting local nonprofits to enhance the quality of life in Belmont Heights. They organize events like Make A Difference Day to unite residents in service and support.

Join your neighbors for Make A Difference Day 🏡FOOD DRIVE: PLEASE BRING A NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ITEM TO CHECK-IN ON MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY! All hands on deck! We are in need of a lot of volunteers this year, so spread the word to friends and neighbors and sign up now for one of our amazing projects that help make our beautiful city the best it can be! Who we help 🤝All volunteer projects are designed to help local non-profits continue to serve our community. This year we are proud to partner with Assistance League, Long Beach Community Table, Christian Outreach in Action, Long Beach Organics, Cedars-Sanai Medical Center and Meals on Wheels.

Volunteer Registration - Make A Difference Day

For generations, the distinctive gas lamp-style lampposts along Belmont Avenue have been a cherished part of Belmont Heights&#39; historic character. These elegant fixtures are more than streetlights&mdash;they are landmarks in the lives of our neighbors, a reminder of our community&#39;s history, and a defining feature of one of Long Beach&#39;s most beloved neighborhoods. Today, many of these historic lampposts are in need of restoration. Without action, this unique piece of Belmont Heights&#39; heritage may be lost. Your gift helps keep Belmont Ave&rsquo;s historic lampposts glowing for our whole neighborhood. By donating, you support safe, walkable streets and preserve a piece of Belmont Heights&rsquo; character. Every contribution&mdash;of any size&mdash;stays right here in Belmont Heights to repair, restore, and maintain these lampposts. Together, we can protect what makes our community feel like home. 🕯️🏡 A Belmont Heights resident, also a freshman at Wilson High and dedicated Boy Scout in Troop 698, has made remarkable strides with his Eagle Scout project: the repair, restoration, and lasting protection of Belmont Ave&#39;s historic lampposts. We first<a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.mybelmontheights.org/post/lighting-the-way-nick-mulvehill-s-effort-to-preserve-belmont-avenue-s-historic-lampposts" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">&nbsp;spotlighted his inspiring initiative</a> in our Fall 2025 issue of the Belmont Heights News from the Neighborhood. Working with Mark Roberts (acting director of Traffic), the City has received replacement replicas&mdash;crafted to closely match the originals&mdash;for the two lampposts that have been destroyed. These replacements are currently awaiting installation. The remaining 37 lampposts, showing signs of rust, require a fresh coat of paint. The estimated cost for this restoration is $36,500. While the City is currently unable to fund this work - <a fr-original-style="" href="https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/save-belmont-ave-historic-lampposts?source=direct_link&" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">please join our petition to encourage them to reconsider!</a> The BHCA is determined to meet this fundraising goal.
