Black Women Hiking the DMV empowers Black women to connect with nature through hiking and camping. We promote equitable outdoor access, foster community, and celebrate Black joy in the great outdoors.

Black women do hike, camp, and enjoy the great outdoors. Join us for a relaxing, outdoor gathering filled with black joy, laughter, soulful stories by the campfire, and reflective moments. This 2-night outing at Dans Mountain State Park is a great way to connect with the land, make new friends, and support one another in our outdoor adventures. We&#39;ll visit the nearby trails and stop in town for a unique rail biking tour and creamery. Every registration to this event will bring us closer to achieving our mission for equitable outdoor access for Black women, so please bring a friend! -----------------------------Registration Details:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">This event is rain or shine, but may be cancelled or postponed due to severe weather.&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">If your plans change, a full refund can be issued through Monday, June 16, 2026. A $5 non-refundable processing fee will be deducted. After this date your registration will be processed as a tax-deductible contribution instead.&nbsp;</li></ul>

2026 Summer Campout & Rail Biking Tour

Black women do hike, camp, backpack, and enjoy the great outdoors! Join us on an epic, multi-day adventure this spring! We are completing the Virginia Triple Crown that includes three of the most iconic vistas on the entire Appalachian Trail - McAfee Knob, Dragon&rsquo;s Tooth and Tinker Cliffs. We&#39;ll spend 1-night in a hotel and 2-nights backpacking along the trail. Every registration to this event will bring us closer to achieving our mission for equitable outdoor access for Black women, so please bring a friend! -----------------------------Registration Details:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" id="isPasted" style="box-sizing: inherit;">This event is Part 3 of a 6-part Backpacking Series. It is strongly recommended to attend our &quot;Intro to Backpacking for Women&quot; virtual session and our &quot;Backpacking for Beginners Trial Run&quot; outing.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">All participants and guests must be a member of the organization&#39;s associated Meetup Group.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">This event may be cancelled or postponed due to severe weather.&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">If your plans change, your registration donation will be processed as a tax-deductible contribution to support programs.</li></ul>

This overnight outing at Lake Anna State Park is a great way to connect with the land, make new friends, and support one another in our outdoor adventures. Beginner Backpacking on the Appalachian Trail - Fall 2026

Black women do hike, camp, backpack, and enjoy the great outdoors! Join us on an epic adventure to kick off the fall! Mid-October offers peak fall foliage. We&#39;ll spend 2-nights backpacking along the iconic Catoctin National Recreation Trail and travel through 1) Gambrill State Park, 2) the Frederick Municipal Forest, 3) Cunningham Falls State Park, and 4) Catoctin Mountain Park.&nbsp; Every registration to this event will bring us closer to achieving our mission for equitable outdoor access for Black women, so please bring a friend! -----------------------------Registration Details:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" id="isPasted" style="box-sizing: inherit;">This event is Part 5 of a 6-part Backpacking Series.&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">All participants and guests must be a member of the organization&#39;s associated Meetup Group.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">This event may be cancelled or postponed due to severe weather.&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">The cost helps offset the cost of booking two (2) campsites for each night, which is non-refundable.
