Riggers tie a scene in real time in front of a live audience Art Gallery Style— the rope is the medium, the room is the gallery, and the work is judged as art.We're looking for artists at every level who want to show what rope can do. You bring your vision, your model, props, staging and your rope. We provide the floor space, the lighting, the audience, and a professional photographer.How it worksTwo sessions of two hours each, roughly 200 guests per session. You'll be assigned a station. You will start at the beginning of the 2-hour sessions so people can see the process happen. there will be a one-hour break, and you will do it one more time for a second group of guests, the competition will take place in the 2nd session so you can make any adjustments you need to from the first.Categories & entry fees (Depth x Width)Single — one rigger, one model (or self tie) 3ftx5ft space — $35Small Group — [1-2 riggers/2-3 models] 3ftx10ft space — $60Large Group — [1-3 riggers 4-6 models] 3ftx15ft space — $100What we need from youAll models and riggers must be 18+ with valid ID at check-inFloor work only — we will not have the space to have suspension (Next year we are hoping to be able to accommodate suspension and competitors from this year will have priority access to suspension space)You supply your own rope, hardware, and any props; We will provide a black backdrop and art lightingNo full nudity allowed, must comply with Texas State Law, if you are unsure, please askAll proceeds after production expenses go to the Montrose Center and BoundHTX to fund LGBTQ+ programming and keep rope education accessible in HoustonJust for applying you can come to the work shop on framing shibari artistically Sept. 24th at the Montrose center for FREE you get 15% off all Shibari Sessions ropes thru Nov 14 if you are approved and participate in ShibARTi that discount continues through the end of the year.Applications close October 23. confirmations/approvals will be done on a rolling basis.
