Carolyn Parr Nature Center

LXCL:The Carolyn Parr Nature Center fosters environmental stewardship of Napa Valley's natural world through education and hands-on experiences.

Botanist John Stebbins will share how plants like Venus flytraps, pitcher plants, and sundews possess properties of both plants and animals. Discover how these remarkable plants attract, trap, and digest their food and what makes them uniquely adapted to their habitats. John Stebbins is a botanist who taught for thirty years at California State University, Fresno. He has extensive experience with native California species, performing research on them for many State and Federal agencies and educational institutions. He has conducted numerous classes and workshops, including with conservation organizations like Napa Land Trust. Geared toward children, adults will love this presentation as well, including the numerous living plants that will be shown. There will be time for comments and questions about native California plants as well.
