Membership at Channing-Murray connects you to a radically inclusive, social justice-centered, and spiritually alive community on the Urbana-Champaign campus. ✨Join to support a welcoming haven for reflection, organizing, and creative expression—where people come together to imagine and work toward a more just world.In 2025 Channing-Murray hosted over 300 community events, many for free–from charity fundraisers to dance events, spiritual inquiry, memorials, community organizing, political power-building, yoga, meditation, community dinners. Channing-Murray has been doing this for more than 70 years. A beloved community resource and space we are here for and here because of our community. We are re-launching membership at Channing-Murray. Members help to sustain the financial responsibility of having community organizations like ours. We’ll have member perks along the way; small tokens of appreciation for your commitment to the community, but mostly you get the satisfaction of contributing to the long term sustainability of this community resource. Membership defines how important CMF is to our community. CMF is OURS and we want it here for the long term. Members also have a vote, votes elect our Board and make our biggest decisions. It also costs a lot to keep this place running! We have our general operating costs running and staffing the building, we also have special projects; solar panels to build towards a greener building, fixing up the building (roof leaks, HVAC updates, parking lot maintenance, etc.). Membership steadies the boat.
