You&rsquo;re definitely not alone. Through this event, you&#39;ll get in touch with the issues that matter to you, understand the municipal elections process, and practice translating your values into a real voting decision.&nbsp; We&#39;ll kick off with Women Transforming Cities leading an interactive workshop on demystifying decision-making at the local level, strategies for civic engagement, and how to analyze candidate platforms. We&#39;ll then get creative at activity stations where you can craft a youth election zine to send to candidates, draw your ideal city in a communal mural, or make postcards inviting friends to vote. This is a non-partisan event, and there are no right or wrong answers: we&#39;re here to offer youth the tools and space to feel confident when it comes to election season!&nbsp; This event will have a Vancouver focus, but youth from all municipalities are invited to attend. From Values to Votes (Vancouver)

Join us in celebrating Black youth perspectives on the Hogan&rsquo;s Alley Block, presented by Cohort 5 of CityHive&rsquo;s Urban ReVision: BIPOC Mentorship Studio! Hear from Black youth and connect with presenters, community organizations, and city leaders over good food. Participants have been working with Hogan&rsquo;s Alley Society on real-world projects envisioning the future of the Hogan&rsquo;s Alley Block&mdash;a historically Black neighbourhood in Vancouver that was displaced through urban renewal in the 1970s. Through their presentations, youth will share visions for honouring past, present, and future generations of Black communities across Vancouver and Metro Vancouver. Themes explored include food sovereignty, arts and culture, archiving and storytelling, economic development, placemaking, Afrocentric design, and much more. Urban ReVision: Community Showcase & BIPOC Networking Event

Join CityHive for the first Policy Under Pressure Community Showcase! Youth participants of our pilot Policy Under Pressure cohort and community partners, funders, alumni and industry professionals will have the opportunity to explore youth perspectives on climate policy at the local level. This cohort focused on Step Code implementation with our project partners, the Community Energy Association. Policy Under Pressure Community Showcase

CityHive CityHang&nbsp;is a casual, community-centered gathering in honour of BC Youth Week. This is a chance to connect with fellow program alumni, CityHive staff, and new faces in a relaxed, low-pressure setting. We&rsquo;ll start with a gentle group walk + talk through False Creek, offering space for dialogue and discussion about our built environment along the way. After the walk, we&rsquo;ll gather for a potluck-style meal&mdash;bring something to share if you can (store-bought or homemade both welcome!). Whether you&rsquo;re looking to reconnect, meet new people, or simply enjoy some time outdoors, this is a space to show up however feels good to you. Accessibility NotesWe want this event to be as welcoming and accessible as possible but recognize it can be helpful to understand details ahead of time. CityHive CityHang

This gathering is for people who don&rsquo;t have access to the ballot, including newcomers and non-citizens, but still want to shape the communities and cities they call home. Together, we&rsquo;ll explore a simple but important question: If you can&rsquo;t vote, how do you shape the city that&rsquo;s your home too? Through a panel conversation and guided audience dialogue, we&rsquo;ll unpack how decisions are made at the municipal level, where influence exists beyond voting, and what meaningful participation can look like in practice. This is not just about understanding systems, but about recognizing your place within them. Belonging Beyond the Ballot: Civic Engagement for Non-Voters

Join <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.cityhive.ca/" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">CityHive</a> and <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.womentransformingcities.org/" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Women Transforming Cities</a> for an interactive event for young people who want to feel confident voting in the upcoming municipal elections.&nbsp; Ever looked at a local ballot and felt unsure where to start, or wondered who actually stands for the issues you care about? You&rsquo;re definitely not alone. Through this event, you&#39;ll get in touch with the issues that matter to you, understand the municipal elections process, and practice translating your values into a real voting decision.&nbsp; We&#39;ll kick off with Women Transforming Cities leading an interactive workshop on demystifying decision-making at the local level, strategies for civic engagement, and how to analyze candidate platforms. We&#39;ll then get creative at activity stations where you can craft a youth election zine to send to candidates, draw your ideal city in a communal mural, or make postcards inviting friends to vote. This is a non-partisan event, and there are no right or wrong answers: we&#39;re here to offer youth the tools and space to feel confident when it comes to election season!&nbsp; This event will have a Surrey focus, but youth from all municipalities are invited to attend. About the OrganizersCityHive is a Metro Vancouver based not-for-profit organization on a mission to transform the way that young people are involved in shaping their cities.
