Sister Lavin and her son Daniel
Here is the story of sister Lavin and DanielFor as long as I can remember, my family and I have lived under the shadow of fear and persecution in Iran because of our Christian faith. After my father was baptized and converted from Islam to Christianity, the Iranian authorities began to target us through intimidation and threats. As my brother and I grew older, we were forced to live in hiding from the government. Our participation in home church gatherings caused constant problems, and our education and friendships were deeply affected. My father’s conversion placed our entire family in danger. He was sentenced to death for leaving Islam. Only a medical report declaring him mentally ill saved his life and prevented our whole family from being imprisoned. My Christian faith has shaped—and in many ways scarred—my education, my marriage, and my social life. Although we tried to hide our beliefs in public, threats and coercion followed us relentlessly. My son’s father eventually relinquished custody to me, declaring that since my family and I were not Muslim, we were apostates. His family continued to harass and intimidate us, insisting that my son was a Christian like myself. At school, my son was subjected to the same discrimination and social pressures that I had once endured.Eventually, my brother and his family fled Iran, and later my son and I were forced to make the same painful decision. The danger to us was simply too great to remain. After arriving in Turkey, our suffering did not end. Because we are Kurdish and Christian, we faced additional, severe problems: social exclusion, harassment, and discrimination that affected every part of our lives. My son had to change schools because of the pressure and threats we faced. The constant stress and fear took a terrible toll on my health — my doctor told me that the prolonged sorrow and stress contributed to my brain tumor diagnosis. Even now, despite my illness, I cannot receive regular healthcare here: the Turkish system does not cover my normal health insurance, so I cannot afford routine check-ups, MRI scans, or necessary medications. Only God truly knows how hard this has been for me. I am a mother and I must be strong for my son, but sometimes I feel I cannot continue. My only comfort is our Savior, who knows our wounds and can heal us. This is my last effort to ask for help from the Christian community. I need your prayers and financial support so I can move to a safe country where doctors can properly monitor and treat me and I can complete the necessary steps of my treatment. These experiences have left deep wounds in both me and my son. We live with the lasting trauma of persecution, discrimination, and fear. I submit this testimony as evidence of the real and ongoing danger we face as Christians from Iran, and I respectfully ask for protection.
