The Cumberland County Fire Chiefs Association Foundation Inc. aims to support local firefighters by addressing mental health challenges like PTSD, depression, and anxiety, ensuring they receive the resources and support they need to thrive.

The Cumberland County Fire Chiefs Association Foundation Inc. is proud to announce our first Gun Raffle Fundraiser! Jim&#39;s Guns in Spring Lake graciously provided a P-365 Fuse Pistol to be raffled off in order to raise money for our new initiative.&nbsp; What is the CCFCA Foundation Inc. It is a non-profit organization whose goal is to strengthen the firefighter community within Cumberland County by addressing the mental health crisis within the profession. Too many of our firefighters struggle with PTSD, depression and anxiety due to the nature of the job. Your support will help raise money to get our local heros the support and resources they need, as well as fund other upcoming events aimed at the same goal.&nbsp; This raffle in particular has a few stipulations: Must be 21 or older to enter.All sales are final.The winner will be required to pass a background check and comply with all federal, state and local laws.The firearm must be picked up at Jim&#39;s Guns on Yadkin Road with valid ID and necessary paperwork.The drawing date will be April 30 at 2:00pm at Jim&#39;s Guns 4632 Yadkin Road.

In addition to the well-known physical risks, it imposes a heavy, often invisible burden on the mental and emotional well-being of first responders. Repeated exposure to trauma, high-stress incidents, and shift work can accumulate over time, leading to elevated rates of behavioral health challenges. National research shows that firefighters experience significantly higher risks PTSD, depression, anxiety, and suicide compared to the general population. These rates are comparable to those seen in military veterans. However, unlike &nbsp;military personnel, firefighters endure ongoing, cumulative trauma without reprieve. They drive past the sites of devastating wrecks, burned homes, and lost lives every day, reliving those moments in their communities where they live and work. This daily immersion in trauma intensifies the psychological toll, fostering isolation, irritability, and emotional numbing that can persist long after a shift ends. According to a study published in the Family Medicine and Community Health Journal vol. 11, “… those with a negative sense of community had a significantly higher odds of re-porting depression, anxiety and stress symptoms.” Combined with other national statistics that show that firefighters face significantly higher risks of behavioral health challenges, in-cluding PTSD and anxiety, firefighters without community face serious mental health risks. The goal of the Ignite the Night CCFCA Ball is to create a positive communal event where firefighters can bond with other firefighters across Cumberland County. Your assistance will not only help us create a support network; it will also build a culture of psychological support and resilience for our heroes.
