Update May 13, 2026In mid-February, everything changed.A devastating fire destroyed the safehouse in Nigeria where Stephen and members of his community were living, leaving them without shelter, food, or basic necessities.In that moment of crisis, someone stepped forward. For six weeks following the fire, she provided food, shelter, and support&mdash;helping them survive while they waited for a path forward.That support came in the form of an $800 loan. Today, Stephen is safe.The immediate crisis has passed.But now, we have an opportunity to do something just as important:👉 to make it right This is not just about repayment. Today we are asking our community to come together in compassion. Claude Ishimwe, a young leader connected to the Rainbow Football Rwanda community, passed away on March 13, 2026 at the age of 23. Claude was born on June 21, 2002 in the Democratic Republic of Congo and was living in Kigali, Rwanda.He was known by many as a kind and dedicated young man who cared deeply for his community and friends. Sadly, Claude passed away after being unable to receive the medical treatment he needed due to financial hardship. Now his friends and family are trying to give him a dignified burial, but they do not currently have the funds to cover the basic expenses for the burial and morgue fees.The burial will take place in: Rusororo, Kigali, Rwanda (near the military headquarters).Diamond Mine Academy is organizing this small campaign to raise $300 to help Claude&rsquo;s family and friends cover these essential costs. Even a small contribution can make a meaningful difference.Together we can ensure that Claude is laid to rest with dignity and respect. A small group. A real challenge. And a chance to help. For the past three years, I&rsquo;ve been working closely with a small group of East African refugees navigating the resettlement process. These are real people I speak with every day&mdash;people doing everything they can to stay safe and move forward. And it became even more challenging when Donald Trump was elected president. Since then, cuts to humanitarian funding and tighter immigration restrictions have made an already difficult process even harder&mdash;especially for members of the trans community and others already at risk. While countries like Canada have stepped in to help with resettlement, the day-to-day reality is still incredibly difficult.
