January 5-week Intro to Darkroom

This one-day workshop will cover the basics of good portrait photography, including lighting, posing, hair, and makeup. Participants will work with a model and basic studio lighting set-ups to create a variety of portraits. This workshop is intended for photographers of all stripes, formats, and experience levels, including digital, film, and phone. Participants should bring their own digital camera, film camera, or camera phone, as well as memory cards, chargers, or film if applicable. All other equipment and materials will be provided by EBPCO!

This includes transferring an image onto paper or glass and working to create collages out of polaroids with these materials. We&rsquo;ll also learn how to safely experiment with everyday chemicals found in the pantry to create unconventional polaroid images. November "Intro to 35mm Photography"

In this workshop, participants will make 4 different bookbinding structures and a wrap to house them all. The structures include a one-sheet book, a pamphlet, an accordion, and a stab binding. Push your photographic work into the realm of sculpture! Liquid emulsion the light sensitive coating normally found on darkroom photo paper in a bottle! It can be applied to wood, fabric, ceramic, and more, allowing images to be made on the surface of just about any object. October "Darkroom Refresher"

Wet Plate Collodion is a photographic process dating back to the 1800&rsquo;s that involves hand-coating a metal or glass plate with a viscous, salted collodion then submerging it in silver nitrate. While still wet, the sensitized plate is put in the camera, exposed, and processed immediately following exposure. In this one-day workshop, participants will learn the basics of this historical process, using metal plates to create their own one-of-a-kind tintypes. This is a camera-less photography process that combines photographic paper and chemistry traditionally used in a darkroom setting with light and subject matter found outside. The results yielded from this open and experimental process are surprising and dynamic. In this workshop, we&rsquo;ll introduce this alternative analog process, experiment with a variety of materials, and briefly cover DIY digital methods of presentation and archiving. No previous experience is required and all materials are included.

For beginners with an Adobe Lightroom subscription that want to learn to get the most out of this powerful editing tool. In this one-day workshop, an instructor will guide you through the basics of digitally editing images using Lightroom. You&rsquo;ll gain a deeper understanding of what Lightroom is useful for as well as a better sense of it&rsquo;s functions and capabilities including importing image files, editing individual images, sorting and editing multiple images, and exporting image files. Participants must bring their own laptop computer with Lightroom enabled, chargers, and 10-40 images files they&rsquo;d like to work with.

June "Pinhole Photography" 6/28

EBPCO members! Do you love photographing dogs? How about senior dogs in the amzaing space that Muttville Senior Dog Rescue has created. We will be gathering for a low-key onsite photo walk at Muttville before they open to the general public.&nbsp; Bring your camera and wear your dog hair friendly clothing. Please do not bring large format camera or a tripod.&nbsp; We will spend about an hour with the senior pups at Muttville, then make our way to Atlas Cafe at 3049 20th St for coffee and a snack.&nbsp; Parking can be a bit challenging in the neighborhood so give yourself a little time. There are 1-2 hour parking spots along Bryant or surrounding streets. Push your photographic work into the realm of sculpture! Liquid emulsion the light sensitive coating normally found on darkroom photo paper in a bottle! It can be applied to wood, fabric, ceramic, and more, allowing images to be made on the surface of just about any object.
