Carr, public historian and lecturer at SIUE. &nbsp;He will share his groundbreaking research on the lynching of James Edward Person in Southern Illinois. &nbsp;Mr. Person&#39;s 1942 lynching stands as one of the earliest twentieth-century lynchings outside the South in which federal authorities indicted and convicted white perpetrators for violating the civil rights of a Black man, making the case one of profound historical significance. &nbsp;Come hear this important part of Illinois history. Event hosted by the East St. Louis Library and the East St. Louis Historical Society.&nbsp;
