Ed Video Media Arts Centre

Ed Video Media Arts Centre empowers artists through access to media arts resources, fostering creativity and collaboration in the community. They provide workshops, exhibitions, and events to promote innovative artistic expression and media literacy.

Early this June, 7 teams worked tirelessly to produce their own films, guided by only 3 prompts and with only&nbsp;48 hours to plan, shoot and edit a finished work! Join us at the Bookshelf Cinema for the official 48 Hour Film Challenge&nbsp;Screening, where each team&rsquo;s work will be presented on the big screen for the public to enjoy. Prizes will be awarded in various categories, such as Best Performer, Best Sound Design and of course, Best Film. Don&rsquo;t miss out on this exciting showcase!

48 HOUR FILM CHALLENGE: The Screening

Join us for a screening of ENDLESS COOKIE ENDLESS COOKIE is an imaginatively animated family portrait that explores the contrasting upbringings between two half-brothers, one white and one Indigenous, in a humorous oral history. As they reminisce into the recording microphone, the threads of their stories are punctuated, interrupted, or else hijacked by charismatic (and humorously animated) members of the extended family, including nine kids and ten dogs, who add to the narrative by indulging in their own reveries. The result is an exploration of identity, race, and Indigenous resistance to colonization within a First Nations community; an impressionistic and often surreal depiction of family; and a lived-in documentary of the creative process. Please join us after the screening for a Q&amp;A session with the directors, Seth and Pete Scriver. This program is presented in collaboration with the Art Gallery of Guelph.

Film Screening: "ENDLESS COOKIE"

Join us for a special screening of &quot;CELESTIAL QUEER&quot;, a documentary feature directed by Eryn Forster and Sue Johnson. Celestial Queer documents the life and work of animator, activist and multidisciplinary artist James MacSwain. For over 40 years, MacSwain has been making otherworldly imagery full of whimsy, humour, politics and beauty. Through observational adventures, archival footage and rarely seen works, Celestial Queer illustrates the impact and contributions of this singular artist.

Ed Video Media Arts Centre is pleased to invite the public to a reception for Renegade Love, its latest exhibition on display at the Guelph Arts Council&#39;s Sally Wismer Gallery. Along this journey, we have created a legacy of important intersections, shaped by collaboration and reciprocity, that have empowered both organizations to advance their mandates within an evolving arts landscape.

Join us for Trial Runners Xtra featuring We Quit Theatre TRIAL RUNNERS is an experimental open mic&mdash;a low-pressure event for folks who make performances/videos/sounds to try stuff out in front of an audience. After the live performance portion (8:30-10:30pm), there will be an &quot;xtra&quot; special live-streamed broadcast of Men Explain Things to Us... And We Like It! by <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.wequittheatre.ca/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">We Quit Theatre</a>, an artist-duo based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Hunters with GPS screens follow their dogs into the forest, and the night catches up with them. Elsewhere, Maina counts her sheep daily. The wolf has been sighted nearby. Adam, fascinated by this apparition, goes out to look for it with his camera, taking advantage of the full moon. Everyone relates to the animal in their own way, but they agree on one thing: they all want to see without being seen. This beastly tale explores scenes of love and death, control and care, fascination and reverie that emerge from living with wolves on the borders of the Basque Country.Admission is FREE and donations to Ed Video are welcome!
