Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge is a non-profit wildlife rescue located in Navarre, FL. We rehabilitate and release native FL wildlife for free when community members find them in distress. Last year, we treated 1,566 patients FREE for their rescuers!

Your donation helps directly fund the medications, vet visits, food, and cleaning supplies we need to rehabilitate and raise wildlife. From specially made wildlife formulas to surgical operations, there is always a patient in need here at ECWR that you can help make a difference for!&nbsp; Your donation keeps our wildlife hospital supplied, supports daily animal care, and powers hands-on education for our community. During our &quot;Double the Luck - Matching March&quot; Fundraiser, your gift is matched dollar for dollar, helping more pelicans, owls, opossums, and other native neighbors return safely to the wild than ever before. This is one of our most ambitious fundraisers, and matching offers like this don&#39;t happen very often! We want to take full advantage of this donor&#39;s generosity, and try to raise $50k that will be DOUBLED to $100k!&nbsp; What does our organization plan to do with these funds? Our main priority this year is updating and expanding our outdoor patient enclosures. These enclosures (which we call &quot;Multispecies Enclosures&quot;) are made to safely contain a variety of commonly treated species such as raccoons, opossums, foxes, and fawns. These enclosures must be spacious, as they not only provide a comfortable resting area for recovering patients, but also serve as our &quot;Boot Camp&quot; enclosures for orphaned wildlife. As these animals have grown up in our hospital and not in the wild, we try to utilize our Multispecies enclosures to introduce them to local weather events, food foraging, social behaviors, and to allow them time to build their strength and skills before release. We plan to use these donations to begin building a second Multispecies area from the ground up, demolish our well used original habitats, and then build a SECOND Multispecies habitat area. At times, we receive so many orphaned wildlife patients in the Spring, we cannot possibly fit them all outside, leading them to spend longer indoors than we prefer as it puts them at risk of heightened human interest post release. This Summer, the work felt like it always has - ENDLESS! This year, just since January, we have already taken in 1,143 wildlife patients from the community completely free of charge. An endless amount of patients always means an endless amount of expenses. Dry foods, formulas, fresh produce and meat, cleaning supplies, medications, veterinary fees, and daily operating costs rise each year as our intake numbers do the same. Our facility is not supported by any state or federal funding, so everything we do is funded by individual donors, grants, and whatever we can generate from our educational events and center. This year, we thought our biggest expense would be the demolition of our old Multispecies Rehab Habitat and the construction of a new and improved one, as our raccoon and opossum intakes keep skyrocketing each year. You guys plus an anonymous community donor stepped up in a big way earlier this year to help us fundraise for this project that is now nearing completion. But, you know how life goes - just when you think you&rsquo;re out of the woods, something new pops up to throw a wrench in everything.&nbsp; The past few months we have been experiencing repeated issues with our septic tank and plumbing system, having experienced multiple backups in our plumbing lines. When we were able to get a crew out to work on it this week, we were met with some devastating news. Our entire septic system is in need of an overhaul, and we&rsquo;ll be needing to construct an additional drain field in addition to making adjustments to our original drain field. With the high volume of patients we are receiving and the amount of water we are using for our daily cleaning, one drain field cannot sustain our septic system alone. During our busiest times of year, we can easily have 100+ patients to care for on property in addition to our permanent resident animals. &nbsp; We will be needing to remove a few trees, have the roots dug out, and have a completely new drain field installed. This is a tough pill to swallow for sure, as we are expecting the combined costs of the repair and maintenance to cost us upwards of $10k. For a non-profit organization like ourself, it can be exceedingly difficult to find grants that will specifically focus on repairs or property upkeep, so we will be self-funding this project completely. We need this fundraiser to work - so that we can keep providing care to all of the animals showing up at our doors.&nbsp; Thankfully, we are not totally alone on this mission -we have all of you to help make our fundraiser a success! We are aiming to raise $12,000 to completely cover the cost of the repairs and also additional expenses along the way. We have an amazing local sculptor helping us with this fundraiser, so - every $100 donated by you earns you 1 entry ticket into a raffle for this incredible, handmade, fully metal pelican yard sculpture! (Local pickup only for this prize)&nbsp;Don&rsquo;t worry if you are donating less than $100, as all donations under that amount will still be entered into a raffle for free passes to visit us!&nbsp;
