Fishburgh Outdoors promotes fishing and environmental stewardship through family-friendly events. They teach fishing skills, safe handling of fish, and care for local waterways, fostering a love for the outdoors in the Pittsburgh community.

Fishburgh Day: Winchester Thurston Summer Camp Fishing Day &nbsp; Winchester Thurston summer campers are invited to join Fishburgh Outdoors for an afternoon of hands-on fishing, outdoor learning, and time by the water at Lake Carnegie in Highland Park.&nbsp;&nbsp;Campers will learn basic fishing skills, use provided gear, and have the chance to fish for local species including bluegill, bass, catfish, and crappie. No fishing license is required for this event. &nbsp; This experience is designed to be beginner-friendly, supportive, and fun. Fishburgh Outdoors will help campers build confidence, connect with nature, and learn more about Pittsburgh&rsquo;s local waterways through fishing.&nbsp; &nbsp; Fishburgh&rsquo;s mission centers on helping families and young people build fishing skills while developing a lifelong love for the outdoors and the environment. Come make a splash with Fishburgh at Lake Carnegie in Highland Park! This family-friendly fishing event is perfect for beginners, young anglers, and anyone who wants to learn the basics in a relaxed, welcoming setting. Participants will learn how to cast, bait a hook, identify fish, handle fish safely, and care for the local waterways that make Pittsburgh such a special place to explore. All you need to bring is a good attitude, some patience, and the courage to believe the next cast could be the big one. Instruction will be led by Phillip Papa, founder of Fishburgh Outdoors, a certified Fishing Skills Instructor through the Pennsylvania Fish &amp; Boat Commission. <ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="font-weight: bold;" style="font-weight: bold; box-sizing: inherit;">No Fishing License is needed for registered participants during this event</li><li fr-original-style="font-weight: bold;" style="font-weight: bold; box-sizing: inherit;">We will provide fishing gear and bait</li><li fr-original-style="font-weight: bold;" style="font-weight: bold; box-sizing: inherit;">Please obtain a ticket for each participant so we can plan for equipment, supplies, and volunteers.</li></ul>

Join The Fatherhood Collaborative of Western Pennsylvania for a day outdoors with Fishburgh Outdoors 🎣. This event brings dads, father figures, and kids together on the water, learning simple fishing skills and easy ways to connect with local waterways.Celebrate Father&rsquo;s Day Weekend with a little fresh air, a few laughs, and some quality time by the water with Fishburgh Outdoors and the Fathers Collaborative Council of Western PA 🎣This private event is reserved exclusively for FCCWPA members and their families and will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Carnegie Lake.Whether it&rsquo;s your first time holding a fishing rod or you already have a favorite lucky lure, this event is all about slowing down, enjoying the outdoors, and making memories together by the lake. We&rsquo;ll have fishing instruction, loaner gear, lunch, and plenty of Fishburgh-style encouragement waiting for yinz at the water.No fishing experience is needed, and no fishing license is required for participating adults during this event.Please RSVP so we can make sure we have enough food, fishing gear, and space along the shoreline for everybody joining us. We can&rsquo;t wait to see yinz at the lake 💛
