Practice Space is Floating Museum's new studio and engine for producing public art. It's a place for experimentation, fabrication, gathering, and rehearsal. Practice means doing something again and again in order to improve, and for a decade, Floating Museum has been rehearsing the city, testing how art and architecture can move differently, how institutions can become more porous, and how culture can be made and shared across neighborhoods. Our new adaptive reuse building on Chicago's South Side gives that work a home while creating a platform for what comes next: a more horizontal and shared space for art, culture, learning, and redistribution of economic opportunity. Practice Space is an infrastructure for artists and collaborators to imagine, make, and rehearse new possibilities for the city together.
