Introduction to Flamenco GuitarAn introduction to the art of flamenco guitar, open to players of every level. Flamenco is built on a handful of core techniques: rasgueado, picado, arpeggio, and the driving rhythmic feel called compás. This group class is accessible to both newer players and those with prior experience. We will get grounded in posture, tone, and the basic right-hand strokes, while deepening our command on the instrument and expanding our repertoire. Alongside the playing, we'll cover the theory behind the music and the history and culture that shaped flamenco and the guitar's place within it.Students should bring their own guitar. A nylon-string classical or flamenco guitar is ideal, but come as you are and we'll sort out the rest. FLOR offers Flamenco dance classes for all levels and abilities from total beginner to advanced dancers, ages 12 and older.
