Harvesting Afro-roots Communion
Free Thought Revolution's harvest ceremony at M.E.S.S. is a fall event for black families to celebrate harvest and respect the ancestors. It is catered to children and our inner children to bring about joy imagining and connection. The evening will include a small community meal, children and family games, art activity, and a mystery story-tale scavenger hike on acres of forrest. The evening Ceremony will be based around Umoja Sankofa & Unity with all activities having Afro/African roots imbedded in them i.e. Storytelling, ancestor communion, knowledge games, and dancing. We hope to reawaken some lost, misguided, and/or misappropriated pieces of culture, identity, and ritual. We intentionally move to raise our communal awareness; especially that of our youth.🌿 Explore the GardenTake a tour through our vegetable garden and discover how we grow food off the grid.🐐 Meet the AnimalsGet up close and interact with 30+ farm animals who call our mountain home their own.🎨 Connect to Ancestors through artMake your own art using natural materials gathered from the land.🌲 Adventure in the ForestKids can make new friends, explore the forest, play games, and experience what life is like living off the grid.🎃 THEN… AFTER DARK…The mountains come alive.Families will set out along our kid-friendly spirit trail, where they’ll follow a mystery story, solve riddles, and discover what might be hiding along the trail.
