How do we help others see themselves more clearly? Through film, music, poetry, performance and other art forms, this panel explores how mixed race folks use their art to make sense of who they are, push back against erasure and expectations, and inspire others to do the same. Join us for a conversation about the power of creating your own story and what can happen when that story is finally seen and heard.</li></ul>1:30-3:00: Parent of Mixed Race Children Panel<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="font-weight: bold;" style="font-weight: bold; box-sizing: inherit;">Helping You Know Better - Lessons &amp; Reflections on Raising Mixed Race Kids</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Maya Angelou said, &quot;Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.&quot; There&#39;s no single way to raise a mixed race child, especially when your child&#39;s racialized experience differs from your own. In this candid panel, parents from different racial, cultural and immigrant backgrounds share what they&#39;ve learned about identity, belonging, family, and raising multiracial children. This candid conversation explores the diversity within the mixed race community and the ways appearance, culture, family history, and generational identity shape how people experience being mixed. The session creates space for perspectives that are often missing from the conversation.</li></ul>5:30-6:30: Dinner &amp; Mingle 7:00-9:30: Film Showcase &amp; Talkback 9:30: Goodbye &amp; See You Next Year!! *Note:&nbsp;Kids will have their own activities from 1:30-3:00 and 3:30-5:30.&nbsp; Teens (13y+) will have their own activities from 1:30-3:00 and will join the large group from 3:30-5:30.&nbsp; *Disclaimer: The film showcase will be for all attendees. There will be no extra programming for kids or teens. While the featured films are made for adult audiences, they do not have themes beyond PG-13. We encourage parent discretion regarding allowing children to view film showcase.
