Friends of Corinium Museum aims to preserve and promote the heritage of Cirencester through exhibitions, educational programs, and community engagement, ensuring that local history remains accessible and appreciated for future generations.

Click on More details for info on the hoard Iron Age Coin Hoard and Votives In 2022 two important coin hoards were found near Cirencester. &nbsp;Corinium Museum was successful in raising funds to buy the hoards from the British Museum. To prepare the coins for display in the Museum the Friends are fundraising to cover the costs of conservation, mounting and display.&nbsp; The first find is a group of 55 coins and artefacts that were found spread in one corner of a field, except for the Neronian bronze, which was over 200m away in the same field. There are a couple of later, inscribed coins from the same region, traditionally dated to the pre-conquest period in the first century AD (c. AD 10-40) and one coin from the East Wiltshire coinage area. There are three later coins inscribed BODVOC from the same region, traditionally dated slightly later (c. 20BC- AD 10) and two uninscribed half units from the North Eastern coinage area (contemporary with the Western uninscribed coinage.
