Gerry's Pompeii

Gerry's Pompeii preserves and promotes a unique garden space, offering guided tours and kayak journeys to connect visitors with nature and history, fostering appreciation for the environment and community engagement.

Funded by Gerry&#39;s Pompeii &amp; Climate Champions this mid-summer foraging walk is an opportunity to explore the wild understory of your local park, Kensington Gardens, learning about the many plants and herbs you can gather to support your health and nourishment.&nbsp; Meeting point:&nbsp;the Cafe by the Italian Gardens, Kensington Gardens, entrance by Lancaster Gate Tube station. During this walk you will learn about powerfully detoxing herbs, gently healing flowers, potent tree-barks and nourishing roots.&nbsp; A gentle 2.5 hour meander, packed full of ethnobotanical tales, seasonal advice, and recipes, we will finish up with a wild tea in a secret glade as we go over the plants encountered and how best to prepare them for the year ahead. All participants will also receive a PDF containing information about the plants met, for you to continue learning with over the coming year.&nbsp; What you will learn:<ul fr-original-style="text-align: start;" style="text-align: start; box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">How to identify over 15 wild plants, flowers and trees</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">How to use wild plants to heal and nourish yourself and your family</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Traditional preparation &amp; storage techniques</li></ul>Guides:This walk will be led by Tamara Colchester (of Plant Listening) and Sasha Galitzine (of Gerry&#39;s Pompeii). Are children allowed? Yes (but must be accompanied by at least one adult), due to the length of the walk we advise children 8+ get most out of the walk. Are dogs allowed? Sadly not! Due to the slow pace of this walk and the presence of other dogs in the gardens, it is not suitable to bring dogs on this walk. A special walking tour of Gerry&rsquo;s Pompeii beginning at his incredibly kind neighbours Nick and Alison&#39;s house. This ticket&#39;s proceeds all go towards preserving and enabling access to Gerry&#39;s Pompeii thought our free education and public engagement programme.&nbsp;

We are very excited to be able to offer the first official kayak trips to Gerry&#39;s Pompeii. The trip will include a 20 minute kayak journey to and from Gerry&#39;s Pompeii with an hour&#39;s special guided tour of Gerry&#39;s incredible garden by curator and charity Director Sasha Galitzine and a welcome drink!
