Proper health care means never letting cost stand in the way of care. HealthLinc’s Patient Fund ensures that individuals and families facing financial hardship still receive the critical services they need, from urgent medical care to life-sustaining medications and preventive treatments. What can your donation accomplish?$50 – Could help provide immunizations to low-income families.$100 – Could provide a patient with prescription eyeglasses suitable for their age.$250 – Could alleviate out-of-pocket costs to a patient for a high-cost medication. $500 – Could help provide primary care for a family of four. Why It MattersEven with our sliding fee scale and assistance programs, some patients still struggle to afford care. The Patient Fund helps bridge the gap, ensuring that no one has to delay or forgo care due to their financial situation.Compassionate Care: Every dollar helps patients get timely treatment, whether it’s managing a chronic condition or receiving support after a medical emergency.Access: Patients receive the care they need without the stress or stigma of unpaid bills or skipped appointments.Care for All: Your support ensures that cost is never a barrier to quality health care, no matter someone’s age, background or insurance status.Your ImpactThe patient had been experiencing a burning sensation in her throat, but she never went to the doctor because she doesn't have insurance. The clinic found her a same-day appointment and used the fund. The patient has not been seen in over a year and is in desperate need of mental health medication refills. The patient has no insurance. The clinic used the fund to support this patient.A family of five just moved to Indiana from Mississippi. The family had no insurance, and the mother was trying to enroll the children in school, which requires physicals. On top of that, the mother might be pregnant again. The clinic used the fund to support all five children.Join Us in Removing Barriers to CareAt HealthLinc, we believe everyone deserves quality care, regardless of their ability to pay. We believe that everyone deserves access to quality, compassionate care, regardless of their income, insurance status, or background. As the needs of our community grow, so must we. That’s why we’ve launched a Capital Campaign, focused on investments that allow us to care for more patients, expand critical services and create healthier communities for years to come. What can your donation accomplish?$500 – Could purchase IT equipment to support our electronic health records and clinic needs.$1,500 – Could help purchase medical equipment.$5,000 – Could cover adaptive equipment for patients with disabilities or mobility challenges.$10,000 – Could furnish an exam room.$20,000+ – Could substantially contribute to building campaigns and equipment modernization. Why Capital Campaigns MatterUnlike annual giving, which helps fund ongoing care and operations, capital campaigns are about building the future. These one-time, large-scale projects allow us to:Expand Clinics: Add more exam rooms and services to meet rising demand.Upgrade Equipment: Invest in state-of-the-art tools for more accurate diagnoses and effective treatments.Modernize Facilities: Create patient-centered spaces that are safe, efficient and welcoming.Strengthen Infrastructure: Ensure we’re prepared for long-term sustainability and growth.Current ProjectsHealthLinc Opportunity EnterprisesTo address unmet needs, HealthLinc seeks funding to expand safety-net services by opening a clinic at Opportunity Enterprises (OE), located at 3101 Evans Avenue, Valparaiso, IN. Good health should start at the beginning with the first years, first words and first books. HealthLinc’s Healthy Futures initiative supports the physical, emotional, and developmental well-being of our youngest patients by meeting them where they are: in the exam room, in their homes, and in their growing minds. What can your donation accomplish?$50 – Could provide 14 children with a Reach Out and Read book for their own little library.$100 – Could provide a child with prescription eyeglasses suitable for their age.$250 – Could support a well-child appointment for a low-income family, ensuring they are meeting their milestones.$1,000 – Could provide 125 children with backpacks for the upcoming school year. Why This MattersHealthy futures don’t just happen, they’re built through early support, nurturing environments and consistent care. The early years are critical for brain development, emotional regulation and school readiness. Without early access to books, screenings and guidance, many children fall behind before they’ve even had a chance to begin.Whole-Child Care: Pediatric visits at HealthLinc go beyond vaccines and check-ups. We support early learning, social-emotional development and strong parent-child bonds.Literacy as a Health Tool: Through Reach Out and Read, our providers give books to children at well-child visits and coach caregivers on the power of reading aloud.Success from the Start: Your support helps ensure that every child gets the tools they need for a healthy start in life.Current ProjectsReach Out and ReadChildren receive a brand-new, age-appropriate book at every well-child visit from birth to 5 years, but it's about more than just story time. Through our participation with Reach Out and Read, our medical providers integrate early literacy into pediatric care by offering guidance to parents on the importance of reading aloud and building daily routines around books.Early literacy is among the strongest predictors of school success and long-term health outcomes. Children who are read to regularly develop stronger vocabularies, better language skills and improved attention spans, setting the stage for academic confidence, emotional development and lifelong learning. Research shows that children growing up in homes with books and reading routines hear millions more words by kindergarten than those who do not.For many families we serve, the books we give may be the only ones in the home. With your support, we can help close the literacy gap, empower parents and give every child the opportunity to thrive.Books cost $3.50 each, and HealthLinc plans to serve over 4,571 patients.Goal: $16,0002026 Funds Raised: $10,000Backpacks, School Physicals, and Well-Child ChecksHealthLinc is seeking support for its annual Back-to-School Health Fair series, National Health Center Week (NHCW), which provides resources for families in the communities we serve. HealthLinc hosts celebrations throughout late July and early August. The NHCW celebrations feature events for children and families at our clinics or a community partner location, typically reaching 200-250 children at each event. All HealthLinc events are open to the public, whether participants are patients or not. Children who participate will receive a backpack filled with school supplies to help them start the year on the right foot. Additionally, we will provide well-child checks and sports physicals at no cost for uninsured families.Goal: $5,0002026 Funds Raised:Your ImpactDr. Courtney Glos, a pediatrician at HealthLinc Michigan City, commented, "The utilization of books from the Reach Out and Read Program plays a crucial role in my assessment of a child’s development and the parent-child relationship. As a board-certified pediatrician and fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, I know the importance of early childhood literacy, and the books serve as an instrument to emphasize this with my patients. By sharing my passion for reading and incorporating books into my interactions with families, I can observe key aspects of the child’s cognitive, emotional, and social development while modeling appropriate interaction techniques. This allows for a deeper understanding of the child’s wellness, particularly between six months and six years, as I assess their language skills, motor abilities, and emotional responsiveness. The introduction of books further highlights the importance of early childhood literacy, fostering a nurturing environment that promotes cognitive growth and strengthens the parent-child bond. The excitement the patients have related to having a book to take home and own really invigorates the office staff, and it allows us to also get back to the importance of play in the development of children."Join Us in Shaping Healthy FuturesEvery child deserves to grow up with the chance to thrive. When you give to the Pediatric Programs fund, you’re helping build strong starts for little ones across our communities.Your gift makes a difference from day one, whether it's placing a book in tiny hands, helping a parent understand a diagnosis, or ensuring a child is referred for early services.Ready to make an impact?Donate now or contact Madeleine Doyle at [email protected] or 888-580-1060 ext. 2981.
