Hollow Mountain empowers creativity through workshops, providing scholarships for underserved communities. We aim to make art accessible, fostering artistic growth and community engagement while ensuring every participant can explore their creative potential.

This workshop is for ages 10+; our Leveret League workshop reservations are listed separately.&nbsp; Get ready for the end of the world, Hollow Mountain style. Apocalypse Survival Training uses a fun zombie-apocalypse theme to teach real first aid and emergency response skills in an engaging, high-energy setting.&nbsp; Participants will learn how to stay calm under pressure, respond to emergencies, and build practical skills that can help them care for themselves and others in a crisis.&nbsp; This is a playful but useful workshop focused on confidence, preparedness, and quick thinking when it matters most.

Let&rsquo;s give them something better to do with that dirt: plant in it! Saturday mornings we&rsquo;ll have concurrent workshops running for Kit Club (~2-5) (reserved separately) and a combo workshop for our jackalopes in Leveret League (6-9) and Prong Pack (10-13). Jackalopes will learn about the difference between soil and dirt, how plants eat, helpful garden critters, identifying seeds and sprouts, and so much more!&nbsp;

Kit Club Gardening with Ms. Amber

Our Family-Friendly Friday yoga workshops are a time for you to relax, unwind and connect with your body &mdash; even while your littlest yogi may or may not be trying to climb on top of you during child&rsquo;s pose! Every Friday in May head down to the BAC for a yoga class where kids aren&rsquo;t just allowed, they&rsquo;re enthusiastically encouraged. Is your kiddo not quite ready for the downward dog? That&rsquo;s okay! They can choose to try a pose, do a puzzle or just cruise around to their heart&rsquo;s content within our secure workshop space. Each workshop is $40 per family which includes up to two adults and two children &mdash; additional family members are $10.

Family-Friendly Yoga every Friday in May

This workshop is for our Prong Pack (10-13) and Jacks (14+). Learn the basics of game design and level up your creations Thursday evenings at Hollow Mountain. Join Cadance Aceves, a Multimedia Studies student of the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, Thursdays at the BAC where you will explore game analysis, and storyboarding for plot, game mechanics and character design, and practical physical rendering among other topics.

Game Design for Kids & Teens Thursdays In May

This workshop is for all our Jackalopes with the exception of our Kit Club participants. Learn the basics of collage and create your very first zine!&nbsp; Zines have a long history, from sci-fi fan zines in the 1930s to punk, feminist and art-geek zine during the 90s resurgence they have always been about creativity, independence, and having a voice.In this collage and zine workshop, you&rsquo;ll cut, paste, layer, and design your craft your own one-of-a-kind mini-publication to express what matters to you most.&nbsp; Plus, if you&rsquo;d like to leave a copy with us, you&rsquo;ll help build our inaugural Hollow Mountain Zine Library right here at the BAC for the community to enjoy. The workshop is $40.

Wednesday Zine & Collage workshop

Join award-winning writers Tuesdays beginning May 5 through 26 and dive into the world of words, poetry, character development, memorable settings, atmosphere, dialogue, the heroes journey, and more! Our May 26 session is geared toward Jacks (14+) while our May 12 is geared toward our older Leveret League and Prong Pack members; however, you may register your jackalope for both if you&rsquo;d like; the age range is based on content. The cost is $40.

Tuesday Creative Writing Workshops for Kids & Teens

Our Monday evening Kit Club Creativity &amp; Stem workshops are a time dedicated just to our littlest Jackalopes!&nbsp;Kit Club workshops are held every Monday at the Hollow Mountain studio in the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City beginning April 27 through May 25.&nbsp;Each workshop will focus on a theme and includes activities like arts &amp; crafts, dance &amp; music, storytelling, nature exploration, science experiments, and more!

New Car Ownership 101 gives teen drivers a practical introduction to the basics of caring for a vehicle with confidence.&nbsp; Designed for Jacks (14+), this hands-on class covers essential skills like checking the oil, identifying key components under the hood, changing a flat tire, and knowing what to keep in the car for emergencies.&nbsp; This is a straightforward, useful workshop for new drivers who want to feel more prepared, more capable, and less intimidated by the responsibilities that come with owning and maintaining a car.

Go behind the scenes of City Hall with the Hollow Mountain Jackalopes and Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell.&nbsp; Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work at City Hall? Or wanted to see what&rsquo;s behind the doors?Now, you can! Join Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell on a free, exclusive behind-the-scenes after-hours tour of City Hall and learn what it&rsquo;s like to lead our city. This is a family-friendly Hollow Mountain event, meaning all ages are welcome. For Kit Club participants, an adult guardian is required to stay with their Kit for the duration of the Behind-the-Scenes activity. While the event is free, registration is required.

Small Business Marketing for Teens is a hands-on workshop where jackalopes explore branding, social media, and basic business planning. Teens will work through real examples, sketch out ideas, and leave with simple tools they can actually use.

Small Business Marketing for Teens

This social-emotional skills building workshop for our jackalopes uses improv to help practice social awareness and emotional regulation in a low-pressure setting. Our May 19 workshop is for elementary and younger middle school ages.&nbsp; Through guided scenes and interactive activities, kids learn how to listen to others and respond in the moment. Because they can participate through characters and imagined situations, it can feel easier to try new ways of communicating without having to talk directly about personal experiences. The workshop focuses on helping kids get more comfortable when things do not go as planned. Participants practice staying involved after a mistake and working through discomfort without leaving the activity. Over time, the exercises support confidence, self-regulation, and stronger peer interaction.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work at the Carson City Sheriff&rsquo;s Office? Or wanted to see what&rsquo;s behind the doors? Now, you can! Join Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong on a free, exclusive behind-the-scenes after hours tour of the Sheriff&rsquo;s Office and learn what it&rsquo;s like to work in all areas of law enforcement. Jackalopes will be able to see the innerworkings of law enforcement, check out cool gadgets and vehicles &mdash; and maybe even get to visit with the cutest employees of all: Deputy K-9s!&nbsp; This is a family-friendly Hollow Mountain event, meaning all ages are welcome. Get ready for your next summer adventure in babysitting with this hands-on workshop from Hollow Mountain Workshops at the Brewery Arts Center.&nbsp; Designed for Jackalopes in Prong Pack (ages 10-13) and Jacks (14+), this workshop introduces the basics of responsible caregiving to so you can build confidence, gain useful life skills, or even start your own babysitting business.&nbsp; Participants will learn about child development stages, basic safety and first aid, fun activities for kids, how to maintain childcare logs, and how to begin offering babysitting services &mdash; all just in time for summer vacation.&nbsp;

Babysitting 101: Prepare for your next summer adventure

This workshop is for our Prong Pack (10-13) and Jacks (14+). Learn the ins and outs of successfully starting a band for any genre. Join Reno music scene veteran Alex Alcantar for an in-person dive into everything you need to know about starting your first band.&nbsp; On Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m., you&rsquo;ll discuss everything there is to know about finding bandmates and what keeps bands together (and what breaks them apart), how to get your first gig and what you can expect when you get there, what a good contract looks like and how to tell if someone is trying to scam you, how booking your first tour works and how to stay safe, and more!

Explore the mysteries of the human body! Learn all about pressure points, how our muscles work, where our organs are located and what they do, and so much more! This workshop is meant for our Leveret League (6-9) and our Prong Pack (10-13) jackalopes and includes age-appropriate, hands-on activities that will sure to leave your child with a slew of fun facts to bring up at the diner table while you&rsquo;re trying to eat dinner for years to come!

Our all ages Art-Therapy themed Monday afternoon Wellness Group is held at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City will be held May 11 from 4:30 to 5:30.&nbsp; This art wellness group is for jackalopes ages 6 and up (excluding Kit Club members -- for now!)&nbsp;

Potion Making Workshop (aka Herbalism for Kids!)

This workshop is geared toward our Leveret League (6-9), but is open to older jackalopes as well &mdash; younger jackalopes are welcome if discussed first with Hollow Mountain for approval. Just because someone doesn&rsquo;t have the use of their vision doesn&rsquo;t mean they can&rsquo;t do the same things as you and me! In this one hour workshop, experience the world without vision, and explore how blind individuals and/or people with low-vision are able to cook, read, navigate the world and more!

Participants will learn the basics of cartomancy (fortune telling via cards) including the origins of the practice, what the different cards indicate, and how to get in touch with your inner voice.

Join us for an insider tour of the Dark Prison Haunt Carson City and see how the minds behind the largest Haunted House in Northern Nevada are able to turn empty rooms into living, breathing nightmares!&nbsp; This event is intended to be for teens (and their grownups if you desire!) -- while our Behind-the-Scenes are informative, and will be lead by members of the Dark Haunt team, they still will involve checking out all the the spooky, creepy, and gore-filled things Dark Prison Haunt has to offer.
