As a leading Brooklyn-based institution for over 36 years, we inspire future generations to develop strong cultural identity and realize their power to transform social inequity.

This monthly gathering is a space of honest conversation, understanding, critical discourse, planning strategies, and encouragement. &nbsp;It&#39;s a place for men of different ages to collectively reflect on life&#39;s challenges and share how we navigate them. Together, we explore topics like self-development/identity, economic empowerment, cultural issues, unemployment, marriage/relationships, fatherhood, our health and more. Shabaka Brooklyn: A Brotherhood Circle

Kanda is a KiKongo word, it means community. The Kanda Closing Dinner is where our Ifetayo community comes together, our Council of Elders, Iwa, board members, alumni, learners, families, caregivers, faculty and staff to witness the learning of our Rites of Passage participants. Kanda Dinner: Rites of Passage Culmination

Join us for a dynamic, flowing practice that links breath with movement to build strength, flexibility, and focus. Each class follows a structured sequence of postures, encouraging mindfulness, alignment, and steady energy flow. Suitable for all levels, the practice challenges the body while cultivating balance, stamina, and a deeper connection between mind and body. Aaron Anaya is a Brooklyn-born holistic wellness practitioner, Licensed Massage Therapist, yoga instructor, and Capoeira Professor whose work integrates movement, bodywork, and cultural arts. Raised in a Puerto Rican household rich in Afro-Caribbean culture, he began martial arts training at the age of four, developing a lifelong connection to rhythm, discipline, and expressive movement.&nbsp;&nbsp;Through his work, Aaron supports individuals in cultivating balance, resilience, and connection to their bodies, minds, and communities.

Join a team of clinicians and coaches for a grounded, honest conversation about how our experiences effect our relationships and mental health. &nbsp;This workshop will explore how our family dynamics play a pivotal role in how we show up in relationships with ourselves and others. To improve our understanding, we will discuss adverse childhood experiences and attachment theory.&nbsp; Together, we&rsquo;ll explore practical strategies for caring for our minds, bodies, and spirits. Through discussion and creative exercises, you&rsquo;ll leave with concrete practices to support your wellbeing and strengthen our community.

Ife Grove Mental Health Workshop: Relationship Dynamics

Learn about Afrikan, Bantu and Kemetic cosmologies and perspectives on life, while aligning the body through geometric sequence-based exercises.&nbsp; Enjoy various breath techniques, visualizations and Heka (Mantras). &nbsp; All body types, especially beginners, are welcome. &nbsp; Come, embrace this unique opportunity to cultivate peace, joy, and soulful living through the harmonious blend of ancient wisdom and contemporary practices. Seshmi Khetam, also known as PitsiRa YaMabala, earned his Afrikan Kemetic Yoga certification in 2017.&nbsp;With a foundation in yoga practice and teaching since 2011 in South Africa, he moved to the USA and now seeks to share his wisdom and experience.

Ifetayo &amp; MINKA Constellations team up to offer&nbsp;thirty-minute, $70 - $30&nbsp;sliding-scale acupuncture sessions&nbsp;to enable more people to access this effective healing modality.&nbsp; Tiny, painless needles are used to stimulate specific body points to reduce pain, calm the nervous system, restore balance and more.&nbsp; Acupuncture sessions are facilitated by <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.minkabrooklyn.com/lindsay-fauntleroy" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Lindsay Fauntleroy</a>.&nbsp; She is an acupuncturist, medicine maker, and the author of In Our Element: Using the Five Elements of Soul Medicine to Unleash your Personal Power. Lindsay&#39;s approach to &quot;soul medicine&quot; emerges from over 15 years of clinical practice, her doctoral studies of Afro-Indigenous psychology, and her commitment to community wellness. She is the clinical director of The Spirit Seed, where she teaches personal and professional development courses on how to work with ancestral healing traditions to ease modern mayhem. Lindsay is a faculty member of MINKA&#39;s Consciousness of Radical Equity (CORE) Leadership Program, as well as the facilitator of MINKA&rsquo;S Flower Essence Certification Program.&nbsp; Our community clinic model is rooted in the reality that we all need care, yet we don&#39;t all have the same access to that care.&nbsp; Peoples of the African Diaspora and our siblings of the Global South often face discrimination, dismissal, systemic inequities and harm within healthcare spaces. Our collaboration aims to provide a Diaspora-centered space of care that considers the current experiences and complex histories of our kin while expanding the types of healing modalities we get to regularly benefit from. When people pay as much as they can, it helps others who may be less able to gain access and helps ensure Practitioners earn a living wage. We&#39;re all in this together and choose to do our best to take care of one another.

She is a New York City based yoga teacher and Ayurvedic wellness practitioner that provides holistic mind, body wellness support. Winter offers yoga, breath work meditation, and Ayurvedic guidance that supports healthy lifestyle, stress regulation, digestive health, and overall wellbeing while participants remain under any existing medical care. Her work is designed to be culturally responsive, accessible, and complementary to Ifetayo&rsquo;s holistic mission, supporting individuals and families through embodied practices that promote resilience, self-awareness, and sustainable health. Ifetayo &amp; MINKA Constellations team up to offer&nbsp;thirty-minute, $70 - $30 sliding-scale reiki sessions&nbsp;to enable more people to access this effective healing modality.&nbsp; A gentle hands-on or off energy healing modality that helps release physical and emotional stress, reduce pain and restore balance.&nbsp; Reiki sessions are facilitated by&nbsp;<a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.minkabrooklyn.com/soula-smith" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Soula Smith</a>. She is a Reiki Level 2 and Earth Evolution Reiki practitioner. As a grantmaker, she works to support the realization of human rights and social and economic justice &ndash; aiding in upholding dignity and unlocking human potential.Soula is grateful to be of service to the BIPOC community as a bridge to the strength, courage, and wisdom of one&rsquo;s own body and spirit. It is an absolute honor to have the opportunity to bring her grantmaking expertise and healing knowledge to the philanthropic and wellness space so that we may all practice collective care as a means of building our capacity to do healing and social justice work.
