We are so excited that you are interested in joining IN Network: The National Security Academy for our second INdepth Lab event! For this event, our conversation will give attendees the opportunity to connect with and hear from prominent counterterrorism expert Mubin Shaikh on the skills needed to serve in various roles connected to the field of counterterrorism. Additionally, this event will be of utmost importance to attendees as it serves as a skills-building workshop to develop the skills needed for a career in national security. Guest Background:Mubin Shaikh is a former extremist turned counterterrorism operative who offers unique insights into radicalization. After renouncing extremist ideologies following advanced Islamic studies in Syria, he collaborated with Canadian security agencies like CSIS and the RCMP. Shaikh played a critical role as an undercover operative in dismantling the "Toronto 18" terrorist plot. Today, he advises North American and European governments and intelligence agencies on counter-radicalization and prevention strategies. His work focuses on analyzing extremist pathways and developing practical interventions to counter violent extremism, bridging the gap between firsthand experience and national security policy. Overview: INdepth is a virtual learning lab that is designed to provide participants who are interested in national security an entry-level opportunity to challenge their critical thinking and teamwork skills. Scenario Topic: Counterterrorism The Challenge: When you join this challenge, you will be broken up into three groups where you and approximately six others will work together to create a brief threat assessment and pitch it to a judge, who will then choose which group created the best pitch for how to go about addressing the national security threat scenario. *As this is a monetized event, we still want to ensure that this event is available to all who would like to participate. If you are unable to make the $5 purchase, please contact IN Network Leadership (in-network-nsa@outlook.com), and we will gladly work with you to make your attendance at this event possible!*

INdepth with Mubin Shaikh: “A Virtual National Security Simulation Lab”

At IN Network, we firmly believe in creating opportunities for our interns. Each semester, we are fortunate to work with students who are driven to share important national security topics with our audience through a variety of initiatives. Some of these projects include: Monthly Intelligence Briefs, podcast episodes with national security professionals, paper initiatives, our Threat Map, and many more! Not only are we amazed by the talent and skill set each year, but we are also pleased to see the passion, care, and dedication emerging from within the future leaders of our Intelligence Community! With them come new ideas, new perspectives, and new solutions to the problems we work to solve each and every day. By supporting In Network: The National Security Academy, you can ensure that each of our interns can effectively complete their missions, not only for IN Network but also beyond! Some of the ways in which your donation helps our interns are through the following:

Inviting key national security professionals to our podcast channel

Further developing our certificate programs and career-development workshops

Hosting in-person events such as our Annual Gala

Helping students attend conferences, webinars, and other external events

Creating paid internships

The above initiatives are only a glimpse into the initiatives that we are presently working on at IN Network.
