LXCL:KHARPP is a charity founded at the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in early 2022. Throughout 2022, we worked both on the Polish-Ukrainian border, supporting refugees, and in Kharkiv, supporting those who remained behind in the city.&nbsp;&nbsp;Today, our focus is the provision of housing support for IDPs, including the purchasing and repairing of homes in safer areas. We simultaneously continue to support villages throughout Kharkiv Oblast with various humanitarian needs.

This collection of sixteen texts, ranging from personal essays about displacement to investigative explorations of housing policies under Russian occupation, as well as interviews with people KHARPP has helped on their decisions either to stay in their homes, or to leave, aims to provide somewhat of a cohesive overview of contemporary Ukrainian housing and understandings of the home.&nbsp; As well as using the collection as a way to raise awareness both of our work, and of housing issues in Ukraine more generally, we are also using it to fundraise, with 100% of proceeds going to our rehousing programme for IDPs. Thank you for visiting this page. David Knowles created the podcast Ukraine: the Latest, which has been broadcast every day since Russia&rsquo;s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. In autumn 2023, David messaged the founder of KHARPP on Twitter and invited her onto the podcast. Since then, the programme&rsquo;s listeners have raised tens of thousands of pounds for KHARPP, including through a special fundraiser in David&rsquo;s memory last year. Their donations have funded the repair of dozens of homes and helped us purchase three homes for families displaced by the war. Even KHARPP&rsquo;s charity car was purchased by a podcast listener. All of this is thanks to David. It is incredible to think of the scale of support for Ukrainian families from frontline areas that grew from a single message from him.&nbsp; This year, David&rsquo;s family has very kindly chosen KHARPP once again as the beneficiary of a fundraiser in his memory - and his mum will also be running the Ealing Half Marathon for KHARPP! KHARPP is a UK-registered charity working in Ukraine. For the first two and a half years of the full-scale invasion, we focused on repairing war-damaged homes in Kharkiv Oblast, repairing more than 900 homes. We now focus on supporting families displaced from eastern Ukraine with their housing needs, including buying and repairing homes in safer parts of the country, so that people can begin their new lives with stability and certainty. On a personal level, David provided such steadfast support for our work, as he did for so many of his friends and colleagues in Ukraine. He was always among the first to message after an attack anywhere in the country. That support meant so much to us then, and is deeply missed now. Your donation will help us provide stability to more families fleeing danger &mdash; whether through a small repair that keeps a home warm through the winter, or by helping us purchase an entire home for a family.
