We at Kinonik are dedicated to providing venues for people to share their enthusiasm for watching classic films as they were meant to be watched. We recognize the value of embodied, analog experiences and the benefits of sitting in the dark with fellow cineastes and enjoying movies together. Kinonik relies on contributions and has no paid employees. We are able to cover the costs of screening licenses through our admission fees, but not our monthly rent of $1800 or the cost to maintain our 50-year-old projectors and the supplies we need to repair and conserve our films. With all this in mind we have decided to ask you, our community, to join Kinonik as members. The benefits aren't great – a small reduction in your ticket cost, free popcorn at our screenings, and a lower cost for a new program we are planning that would let you borrow a projector, a screen, and a film so you can screen a 16mm movie at home. Mostly we hope you will join because you like what we do and want to be a part of our mission. And so we can keep growing our collection and showing films!

Kinonik Operating Fund
Kinonik is a non-profit microcinema dedicated to the communal experience of watching films projected on analog formats. We preserve and present essential 16mm and 35mm film with the aim of fostering dialogue, education, and resistance against cultural homogenization. Kinonik serves as a space for collective meaning-making where cinema is not a commodity but a shared encounter with history, aesthetics, and radical imagination, in the spirit and tradition of cinema clubs of the past.We rely on your support for rent, projectionist, maintenance, and all the other expenses we incur.
