LXCL:Kootenay Social Support Society empowers communities by providing essential social support services. We aim to provide compassionate support for adults living with declining health, social isolation or increased frailty and to provide the necessary social, emotional, and practical support in order to maintain their quality of life and ability to live in the manner of their choice, and to offer support to the family and friends through the services of staff and trained volunteers.

Achieving charitable status opens the door to new funding opportunities and means that, moving forward, we can build a stronger and more sustainable future for our Nav-CARE program. But right now, we need your help to get there. Our Nav-CARE program is facing a funding gap, and we need to raise enough to carry us through to 2027. A gift today will help us continue providing Nav-CARE services without cutting back while we wait for those funding decisions. Nav-CARE supports local adults who are experiencing declining health, increased frailty, or social isolation. Our volunteers provide regular check-ins, compassionate companionship, grief support, and practical help&mdash;while helping people navigate the medical, social, and community resources available to them.These are people who might otherwise be struggling alone. Today, our program is supporting 190 active clients with the help of 99 volunteers across six communities. Demand continues to grow, with waiting lists in almost every area we serve. We have done everything we can to stretch our existing resources, including reducing our expenditures by $100,000 this year compared with last year. We have also applied for the grants we need to sustain the program into the future. Now we need our community to help us bridge the gap.
