Gujarat bears one of the heaviest burdens of Thalassaemia in the world. Approximately 4-5 % of the state’s population carries the Thalassaemia Minor gene – nearly 2 million people mostly unawares of the impending complication. When two carriers have a child, there is 25 % chance that child willbe born with Thalassaemia Major – a severe, lifelong blood disorder requiring frequent, regular blood transfusion, twice or thrice every month, to survive; even so with stunted physical and mental growth. The cost is devastating for low-income families, an impossible maintenance eventuality that shatters families already living in poverty; besides the tormenting emotional agony. The hopeful truth: Thalassaemia is largely preventable. Simple carrier screening tests, prenatal tests and counselling have reduced new cases by over 90 % in countries like Cyprus and Iran (WHO, 2022). Life Global Canada funds three elements: blood transfusions for those currently in treatment, carrier screening programs to prevent future cases and community awareness education to reduce incidence and encourage early testing.YOUR 'DONATION IN ACTION$ 50 Gifts 5 Screening Tests$ 200 Gifts 20 Screening Tests$ 500 Gifts 50 Screening Tests$ 1000 Gifts 100 Screening Tests Your empathy does not just prevent one Thalassaemia birth - it shapes a healthy society. Blood is a rare commodity, always in short supply, typically in developing countries. There’s no manufactured substitute for blood despite advances in science and technology. Needed in health emergencies, accidents, pregnancy and surgeries, blood remains a life saver, but not without financial distress for patients from poor societal strata. Life Global Canada funds Free of Cost blood for economically disadvantaged patients in need of blood to save their lives; because life is precious. Timely availability of blood ensures critical life support for those in suffering and their access unfortunately relies on financial capability. On average, a patient needs anywhere between 2 to 5 units of blood or blood components, which, incritical conditions, can be in multiples. Free of Cost Blood for un-affording patients remains a core objective for Life Global Canada. Your support to save lives is a deep-impact gift in humanity.
