Los Angeles Youth Orchestra

The Los Angeles Youth Orchestra nurtures young musicians through performance and education, fostering a love for music while building skills, confidence, and community. They provide a platform for artistic expression and collaboration among youth.

Join us at the HOLLYWOOD BOWL on JULY 31 🎟️&nbsp; We have access to discounted tickets for the Hollywood Bowl on Friday, July 31 (8pm show) for Tchaikovsky and Fireworks- only $27 each (tickets in sections R/S/T). One of the pieces they will be playing is Tchaikovsky&#39;s 1812 Overture - which we will be playing in Symphony this fall! Here is the Bowl&#39;s description of this event: One of the Hollywood Bowl&rsquo;s most treasured annual traditions is back, this year, with Troupe Vertigo, the LA-based theatrical circus company &ldquo;whose dizzying acts defy gravity and leave its lucky audiences in awe&rdquo; (Los Angeles Times). &nbsp; Combining their choreography and contortions with excerpts from Tchaikovsky&rsquo;s ethereal Swan Lake ballet suite and the fervent Marche Slave, the performers share the stage with the orchestra and Chlo&eacute; Dufresne&mdash;a Tchaikovsky specialist and former Dudamel Fellow who makes her Hollywood Bowl debut&mdash;during this unforgettable program. The night begins dreamily with selections from Sleeping Beauty, and as always, comes down to an explosive finale with the 1812 Overture, accompanied by the USC Marching Band and our astounding fireworks show. Here is the description of this event: Elim Chan leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic in two enchanting and colorful orchestral favorites. Debussy&rsquo;s hues in Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun are otherworldly if hazy and in watercolor. The Impressionistic atmosphere Debussy conjures exudes a fragile beauty that set off a revolution, which Pierre Boulez said &ldquo;breathed new air into the art of music.&rdquo; By contrast, Stravinsky paints with bold, contrasting blocks of sound. Petrushka&rsquo;s Picasso-esque approach to musical color and movement sets the stage for the story of a mischievous puppet, packed with Russian folklore and misadventure.In between, Karen Gomyo&mdash;who has been described as &ldquo;a first-rate artist of real musical command, vitality, brilliance, and intensity&rdquo; by the Chicago Tribune&mdash;gives the world premiere of Samuel Adams&rsquo; Violin Concerto. The two combined for the premiere of Adams&rsquo; &ldquo;mesmerizing, soulful&rdquo; (The Independent) Chamber Concerto in 2018. The son of LA Phil Creative Chair John Adams, Samuel Adams writes in a musical style that combines his own background as a jazz bassist with his interest in European modernism and acoustic-digital sounds.
