Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance

Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance fosters musical excellence through education and performance. We provide a platform for aspiring musicians to learn, collaborate, and showcase their talents in a vibrant community dedicated to the arts.

Join us for a solo recital with internationally acclaimed pianist Jonathan Biss&mdash;a thoughtful, expressive artist known for bringing new insight to the classical repertoire. Biss is recognized globally for his &ldquo;impeccable taste and formidable technique&rdquo; (The New Yorker) and has appeared as a soloist with some of the world&rsquo;s foremost orchestras, including the Los Angeles and New York Philharmonics, the Boston Symphony, the Royal Concertgebouw, the London Symphony and more. Biss is also the author of Unquiet: My Life with Beethoven, in which he examines music and his own life&#39;s journey through the lens of Beethoven&#39;s last piano sonatas. He has served as the Co-Artistic Director of the Marlboro Music School and Festival alongside pianist Mitsuko Uchida since 2018. *Please contact us directly for information about student tickets. LAMP Fall Gala: Jonathan Biss

Join us for the final showcase of LAMP&rsquo;s 2026 Academy season, featuring the young artists of Sonatas with Biss. After a week-long residency at LAMP, these musicians will present the culmination of their work under the guidance of world-renowned pianist <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.jonathanbiss.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Jonathan Biss</a>. Throughout the Academy, artists will work closely with Biss and their fellow musicians, exploring sonata repertoire through private lessons, rehearsals, and performance. This concluding concert offers a chance to hear the results of their week of intensive study and collaboration, celebrating the work and growth of these promising young performers.

Sonata Night

<a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.edenchenmusic.com/" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Eden Chen</a> is a pianist who explores the diverse ways human beings create and sustain meaning. A Young Steinway Artist, he has performed on world stages including Stern Auditorium in Carnegie Hall, Pritzker Pavilion, and Wigmore Hall. Eden is currently preparing his upcoming album, Memory&rsquo;s Atlas, to be recorded with PENTATONE. Memory&rsquo;s Atlas pairs Ravel&rsquo;s Le Tombeau de Couperin with his original arrangements of work by Ryuichi Sakamoto. The program reflects on the awe and ache of memory&rsquo;s transformations, as we revisit the past only through the language and technology we have today. As part of his 2026 residency at LAMP, Eden brings the themes of Memory&rsquo;s Atlas to the concert stage.

Eden Chen, piano

Violist Tilman Sandvoss is an accomplished orchestral, chamber, and solo musician noted for his luscious tone and profound musicality. His residency program brings together works spanning from the Baroque to the twentieth century, including music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Rebecca Clarke, Georges Enescu, Johannes Brahms, Paul Hindemith, Vincent Ho, and Jessie Montgomery. Together, these works represent the breadth of the viola&rsquo;s repertoire, highlighting the instrument&rsquo;s expressive range as both a solo and chamber music voice. The inclusion of Tilman&rsquo;s own arrangements reflects his ongoing interest in expanding the repertoire available to violists and presenting familiar works from new perspectives. A passionate advocate for new music, Tilman has collaborated with and given world premieres of works by composers including Vincent Ho, Peter Jancewicz, Brian Current, J&ouml;rg Widmann, Julian Anderson, and Huw Watkins. He holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in viola performance from The Glenn Gould School and is currently pursuing his Master&rsquo;s degree at the Hochschule f&uuml;r Musik in Basel.

Tilman Sandvoss, viola

<a fr-original-style="" href="https://triotimia.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">&nbsp;Trio Timia</a>, formed in Montr&eacute;al, brings together pianist&nbsp;Itamar Prag, violinist June Lee, and cellist Fran&ccedil;ois Lamontagne. Second Prize winners at the 2026 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and First Prize winners at the 2026 Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition, the trio also represented Canada at the 2026 Osaka International Chamber Music Competition, where they were one of eight piano trios selected worldwide and the only North American ensemble. Trio Timia shaped its artistic voice as an ensemble-in-residence at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, where they premiered a commissioned work by Canadian composer Yejin Kwon. The trio has performed across Canada, the United States, and Europe, and is currently the ensemble in residence at Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music under the guidance of the Ariel Quartet. Their work is grounded in a commitment to collaboration, artistic curiosity, and the expressive possibilities of chamber music.

Trio Timia

Pianist <a fr-original-style="" href="https://sunmihan.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Sunmi Han</a> is celebrated for her poetic lyricism in solo performance and vibrant imagination in chamber music. She has performed throughout Europe, North America, and Asia, appearing as a concerto soloist and recitalist in major concert halls and festivals. While solo repertoire remains an important part of her artistic identity, chamber music and collaboration are central to Han&rsquo;s work. She believes chamber music is where friendships form, stories intertwine, and listening becomes an act of generosity. Through her work as both a performer and educator, she is passionate about creating musical communities where artists grow not only in skill, but also in humanity.

Sunmi Han, piano

Canadian mezzo-soprano <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.ellitagagner.com/" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Ellita Gagner</a>, currently based in Montreal, has been praised for her &ldquo;gorgeous, warm tone and winning gamine personality.&rdquo; She has performed leading and supporting roles across Canada with companies and ensembles including Op&eacute;ra de Montr&eacute;al, Opera Nova Scotia, the Brott Festival, Maritime Concert Opera, and Chorus Niagara. A dedicated performer of contemporary music, Ellita has worked with both established and emerging composers and librettists, most recently workshopping and presenting scenes from Op&eacute;ra Magnolia&rsquo;s Opera Creation Forum. Her operatic repertoire includes Cendrillon, L&rsquo;Enfant, Tetka, Dido, Lysistrata, Hansel, Dorabella, and Iphigenia. Ellita has been a young artist with Brott Opera, Toronto Summer Music, the Castleton Festival, Equilibrium Young Artists with Barbara Hannigan, Manitoba Opera, and the Rebanks Fellow program at The Glenn Gould School. She is a graduate of the Opera School at the University of Toronto and the Don Wright Faculty at the University of Western.

Ellita Gagner, mezzo-soprano

<a fr-original-style="" href="https://pkozlowski.com/" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Piotr Kozłowski</a> is a versatile Polish pianist and educator with a strong focus on chamber and contemporary music. Kozłowski presents the culmination of his month-long residency at LAMP with a solo piano performance featuring works by Leevi Madetoja, Leo&scaron; Jan&aacute;ček, Karol Szymanowski, and Fryderyk Chopin. By placing these composers side by side, the program reflects the cultural complexity of Central Europe, which remains increasingly relevant in today&rsquo;s political, economic, and social climate. Its unique culture and art, shaped by both Western and Eastern influences, reflect this in-between position. The composers represented in this program, like Kozłowski himself, have lived between identities, languages, and borders. Many were shaped by exile, displacement, and a longing for home.
