Celebrate Juneteenth with Bbymutha, Savoy., Slumberland, STUNNER., and DJ crai bbyy for a special night celebrating Black talent in Atlanta and mutual aid efforts in the city. Proceeds from this show will benefit the artists as well as Strike Black&mdash;a Black-led grassroots collective organizing Black Atlantans against fascism. They focus on community defense, resisting state violence, and combating surveillance in Black communities.

Join us for our first curated show of the year at Star Community Bar, featuring local indie artists Maggie FM, Culprits of the Youth, Makenna Lyric, and Mary Margaret Cozart. All proceeds from this show will benefit Casa Alterna. About <a fr-original-style="" href="https://casaalterna.org/about/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Casa Alterna</a>:Casa Alterna is an Atlanta-based non-profit that focuses on providing short-term and long-term housing assistance for vulnerable immigrants. Since relocating to Atlanta in 2020, the organization has opened its doors and provided resources to hundreds of people from more than 50 countries, offering care, safety, and renewal. About the artists:Maggie FM&nbsp;is the indie rock solo project of Atlanta-based musician Maggie Geeslin, who is known for her work as the guitarist for Lunar Vacation. Maggie FM released its debut album Candy, Lights, Orchids in 2025 and is preparing the release of its next album, expected later this year. Maggie FM&#39;s single, &quot;Rusts,&quot; was featured in Mainline&#39;s <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.mainlineatl.com/mainline-top-100-atlanta-tracks-of-2025/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">100 Favorite Track of Atlanta list</a> for 2025. Editor Aja Arnold wrote that the single is &quot;by far the highlight of the record, with shimmering guitars, funky bass, and perky punched-up drums. Featuring two delightfully discordant, hypnotizing post-chorus bridges, the song juxtaposes feelings of hope and internal doubt, like a rain cloud covering the sun momentarily on an otherwise perfect day rolling around in a southern field.&quot; Culprits of the Youth&nbsp;is a five-piece alt-rock band based in Atlanta, &quot;undulating the worlds of glimmering melodies, waterfalls of distortion, and poignant rhythms.&quot; In 2025, they released their debut Soft Sight, Sore Eyes EP, featuring &quot;raw and impactful vocals accompanied by their soul-gripping instrumentals.&quot; Makenna Lyric&nbsp;is an Atlanta-based composer, instrumentalist, and producer, originally from Missoula, Montana. Lyric arrived in Atlanta in 2020, where she has been deepening her relationship with community, creativity, and her work in folk music. Her fully self-produced album, Leap!, was released in 2024. Music and cultural journalist Lindsay Thomaston <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.artsatl.org/how-atlanta-gave-musician-makenna-lyric-the-confidence-to-create/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">writes</a>, &quot;In this lifetime, 23-year-old producer and singer-songwriter Makenna Lyric is among a growing number of young artists finding themselves within the current folk revival, with a particular emphasis on its legacy of exploring Black and lesbian identity ... Like leading a trusted friend to that creekside alcove you deem your &ldquo;I know a spot&rdquo; spot, Leap! is as transportive to a parallel world as it is firmly rooted in the surroundings of her early 20s. Ambient field recordings conjure images of green, thicketed trails just as easily assignable to Missoula as they are to Atlanta. Softly twanged arpeggios go skittering across like pond skaters in rich stereo.&quot; Mary Margaret Cozart is an indie rock singer-songwriter whose music spans a spectrum from soulful melancholy to energetic garage-rock, with a through line of classically trained fingerstyle guitar technique and a penchant for peppered dissonance. Though currently based in Atlanta, her music has been shaped by living in Athens &amp; Savannah, where she began sharing her songs with live audiences; her southern roots are reflected in sincere storytelling and the warmth of her vocals. Since relocating back to her hometown last year, Cozart has released her latest single, &quot;Maggie&#39;s World,&quot; toured regionally with Athens-based band Your Ex&#39;s Pets, and performed locally while recording her first full-length album. Join us on March 2 for a special, one-time screening of Standard Selects: The Movie, made in collaboration with the Atlanta-based independent magazine, Mainline 🎉 The film is screening in support of the upcoming digital series, a reboot of the original &quot;Standard Selects,&quot; which originally aired in 2018 and has been on hiatus since 2020. A special collection of live in-studio direct-to-VHS performances, Standard Selects: The Movie features eleven live musical performances that will be featured in season one of the series, with episodes beginning March 10. The artists featured in this series are BAUMS, CDSM, Janie Danger, Maggie FM, major, Makenna Lyric, Muelas, Safety Switch, Sloping, SMALL, and Upchuck. Exclusive interviews with each artist will also be featured. The film was fully recorded at Standard Electric Recorders Co., a local independent recording studio (and then some) located in Sunny Scottdale, and was edited by Standard Electric owner and engineer Damon Moon. Produced by Aja Arnold, Autumn James, Damon Moon, and Sydney Ward, with support from Bailey Crone, Lindsay Thomaston, and Jake Van Valkenburg.
