McGill Players' Theatre

Players’ Theatre is a non-profit theatre company that aims to bring affordable, accessible performances to members of the community. Founded in 1921, we are Montréal’s oldest English-speaking black box theatre.


McGill Drama Festival&nbsp;2026 A new set of shows each night! The McGill Drama Festival is an annual play showcase run entirely by students. Six incredible student written, directed, acted plays will be performed in Players Theatre from March 23-27, the highlight being the round robin on the final night which features ALL the plays in one go!&nbsp; The following includes the schedule, show descriptions, and content warnings. Eden:&nbsp;After a falling-out, three best friends end up on a road trip to the last standing Olive Garden in Vermont. The journey doesn&rsquo;t go quite as planned, and the friends face allegorical flooding, meta puppet shows, and other surreal happenings, all while trying to repair their own crumbling friendships. Content warnings: Discussions of suicide and mental health struggles. A Child Went Forth:&nbsp;In 1955, city reporters Kate and Frank arrive on the Isle of New Man to cover a sexual assault trial that has deeply shaken the island&rsquo;s tight-knit community. The reporters face a divided community reeling from generational trauma, and figure out how to report on such a delicate case involving so many perspectives, all while dealing with ghosts from their own pasts. Content warnings: Discussions of child sexual abuse. Bird vs Duvall:&nbsp;Tonight is the long-awaited game between veteran boxers Bird and Duvall! Prepare for a night of violence and vitriol, a night of ruthless, sweaty boxers! After all, they are the best of the best&hellip;right? All the Queens Lions:&nbsp;England. The late 1100s. The Queen and her ladies-in-waiting prepare for a fantastical tournament filled with romance and chivalry held in honor of her decaying marriage to the king. But, nothing ever truly goes as planned. Expect love, heartbreak, rebellion, and perhaps an occasional lion. The Pottery Play:&nbsp;The community centre is in chaos. A kooky teacher and his bizarre activities turn a &nbsp;pottery class into a full-blown group therapy session where five students juggle moulding clay and repairing their shattered relationships. After all, true potters know that a &ldquo;soul cup&rdquo; isn&rsquo;t complete without engaging the senses, a little snacking, some &ldquo;extra help,&rdquo; and a whole lot of fun. Funny People:&nbsp;Art Gallagher and Rachel Arbour: once, two stand-up comedians who were very much in love -- now, not so much. In a story of love, betrayal, privilege, and reconciliation, you&rsquo;ll find out what went wrong. Content warnings: Discussions of suicide and abortion.

Players&#39; Theatre presents &quot;The One Act Play That Goes Wrong&quot; directed by Odessa Rontogiannis. Written by Johnathan Sayer, Henry Lewis, and Henry Shields. For their spring production, the less-than-talented thespians of The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society take on a classic murder mystery play: The Murder at Haversham Manor. The actors and crew struggle through forgotten lines, bad accents, set pieces collapsing, and&hellip;people getting lighted on fire? Everything that could possibly go wrong, does.
