Minority Freedom Community Fund empowers marginalized communities through financial support, advocacy, and resources, fostering economic justice and equity. Their mission is to dismantle systemic barriers and promote sustainable community development.

In Detroit, Black-led nonprofits are lifelines for families, youth, and seniors. But too many are struggling to survive due to systemic barriers and shrinking funding. Aya House, powered by the Minority Freedom Community Fund (MFCF), is changing that. We transformed a once-abandoned building in Detroit&#39;s historic Eastern Market into a magical hub where leaders get the space, tools, and mentorship they need to dream while serving our neighborhoods. The Minority Freedom Community Fund is Black-led &amp; founded intermediary with a mission to improve the lives of African Americans and minorities in the United States of America through a multifaceted approach that includes providing capital infusions, supporting existing social infrastructure, and promoting holistic wellness. What we do:&nbsp;<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li data-end="1512" data-start="1420" fr-original-style="" id="isPasted" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Workspace &amp; Tools: Nonprofits receive dedicated office and event space at Aya House.</li><li data-end="1646" data-start="1513" fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Mentorship &amp; Coaching: Guidance from seasoned nonprofit leaders.</li><li data-end="1728" data-start="1647" fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Tech Access: Digital lab powered by Black Tech Saturdays and Wayne Metro.</li><li data-end="1817" data-start="1729" fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Fundraising Support: Hands-on coaching in grant writing, finance, and marketing. As an intermediary and fiscal sponsor, we raise and monitor funds for grassroots organizations, helping them stay compliant, secure new revenue, and focus on their mission instead of red tape. Every dollar invested in this support multiplies into new funding streams for Black-led nonprofits across Detroit.</li><li data-end="1954" data-start="1818" fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Community Impact: In just one year, Aya House has hosted over 2,000 Detroiters for wellness, leadership, and cultural programming.</li></ul> Why it matters:Across the country, Black-led nonprofits are essential safety nets&mdash;keeping families housed, feeding communities, creating youth programs, and driving cultural resilience. Yet too many are at risk of closing their doors because of systemic barriers and limited resources. This critical milestone will strengthen our capacity to expand nationally, support more Black-led nonprofits, and ensure sustainable leadership for years to come.2. Program Delivery &ndash; $25,000 Fund six months of direct support for nonprofit residents, including coaching, workshops, and dedicated workspace.3. Technology &amp; Digital Access &ndash; $15,000 Equip our Digital Lab with tools, software, and training to close the digital divide for grassroots leaders.4. Leadership Development &amp; Mentorship &ndash; $10,000 Provide peer coaching and executive mentorship through our strategic partnerships, ensuring nonprofit leaders have trusted guides.5. Community Engagement &amp; Events &ndash; $10,000 Host cultural and wellness events at Aya House and virtually, connecting over 2,000 people annually to programs and resources.6. General Operations &ndash; $20,000 Keep the lights on, staff supported, and systems running smoothly so we can continue serving organizations across the country.
