Detroit&#39;s young people aren&#39;t a threat to our future; they ARE our future. Throughout the weekend, youth leaders will facilitate sessions, showcase businesses, compete in a video competition, and shape the conversations that determine how resources move in our communities.

ABOUT THE EVENTDonors & Doers is the annual convening of MFCF — a gathering where community builders, funders, founders, youth, and movement-makers come together to celebrate, strategize, and resource grassroots transformation. Now in its sixth year, Donors & Doers returns to Aya House, a homegrown community space in Detroit's historic Eastern Market known as a third space for the City's most influential changemakers. This year's theme, The Teen Takeover, reclaims a phrase the media uses to stoke fear about young people — and turns it into a celebration of youth power. Detroit's young people aren't a threat to our future; they ARE our future. Throughout the weekend, youth leaders will facilitate sessions, showcase businesses, compete in a video competition, and shape the conversations that determine how resources move in our communities.

6th Annual Donors & Doers Summit

For five weeks, our DiscoverWorks team kept showing up. We transported young people across the region so they could participate. We fed them. We taught math and ELA. We introduced them to entrepreneurship, financial education, philanthropy, wellness, leadership, careers, community history and new possibilities for their futures.We navigated transportation challenges, unexpected vendor disruptions, illness, severe environmental conditions and families facing needs far beyond what a summer program alone could solve.And through it all, our young people had five uninterrupted weeks of programming at Aya House. Yesterday, we celebrated what they accomplished. Today, we are asking our community to help us finish what we started. MFCF must raise $60,000 by August 31 to close the gap created by program costs and a delayed and uncertain final grant payment. These funds will help us meet outstanding DiscoverWorks obligations, with compensation for the educators, youth leaders and team members who made the program possible as a priority. They stood in the gap for our young people.Now we are asking you to stand in the gap for them.

Detroit Love FundA Community Powered Microfund Rooted in Trust and Care The Detroit Love Fund is a community-governed microfund housed at Aya House and fiscally stewarded by the Minority Freedom Community Fund. It provides fast, flexible support to Detroiters navigating real life needs, creative work, healing, and moments of transition, without red tape or judgment. Campaign Goal$31,300 to fund 100 community microgrants Each microgrant is $313 and is deployed quickly through a trust-based, community-led process. Why This Fund ExistsDetroit is full of people who are doing meaningful work for themselves, their families, and their neighborhoods, yet traditional systems are often too slow, restrictive, or misaligned to support them in real time. Small gaps can derail momentum, delay healing, or stall progress. The Detroit Love Fund exists to respond differently. We believe love is action, and timely support can make the difference between stopping and moving forward.
