Spectral Voices: Music and Cinema from Georgia Join us for an evening of music and cinema with Giorgi and Alexandre Koberidze, the creative duo behind one of the most mesmerizing films to come out of Georgia in recent memory, Dry Leaf&nbsp;(2025), opening at Film at Lincoln Center this week. Composer Giorgi Koberidze&nbsp;will perform original electronic music from the film and his album Forests, Tales, Cities, Forests&nbsp;(2025), followed by a screening of Aleksandre Rekhviashvili&rsquo;s&nbsp;ethereal and underseen 19th Century Georgian Chronicle&nbsp;(1979, 65&rsquo;), which filmmaker Alexandre Koberidze will introduce. An array of wine and refreshments will be generously sponsored by East Village Georgian restaurant Chito Ghvrito. 7 PM &nbsp;Doors &amp; refreshments 8 PM &nbsp;Performance by composer Giorgi Koberidze 9 PM &nbsp;Film screening introduced by filmmmaker Alexandre Koberidze 10 PM &nbsp;Post-reception The event is co-organized by Gotham Arts and The&nbsp;Cinema Guild. About the FilmA wistful young Georgian student returns to his village to save the forest where his ancestors are buried. Unfortunately, a foreign company aided by an inept and collusive bureaucracy straight out of a Gogol novel have designs on the same forest. A film about the eradication of memory, from the elusive struggle to preserve it through the malevolent forces that conspire against it, but one that nonetheless finds a lyrical beauty in the meditative and laconic images accompanying this journey to the ancestral source.&nbsp; About the Artists Giorgi Koberidze&nbsp;(born December 31, 1992, in Tbilisi) is an electronic and classical music composer from Georgia. He currently serves as a professor of music at Tbilisi State Conservatoire, and Ilia State University. Giorgi&#39;s work is rooted in the Georgian musical tradition, cross-pollinating indigenous instrumentation with electronic and western classical timbres. He recently won first prize in the Tbilisi Conservatoire Composers Awards, and received Georgia&#39;s most prestigious cultural accolade, the Tsinandali Award. Alexandre Koberidze&nbsp;(born October 19, 1984, in Tbilisi) is a Georgian filmmaker, screenwriter, and editor who studied in Tbilisi before moving to Berlin in 2008 to study directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB). His feature debut, Let the Summer Never Come Again&nbsp;(2017), won top prizes at FIDMarseille and the German Film Critics&rsquo; Award. His second feature, What Do We See When We Look at the Sky?&nbsp;(2021), won the FIPRESCI Prize at the 71st Berlin International Film Festival. His most recent film, Dry Leaf&nbsp;(2025), premiered at the 78th Locarno Film Festival.
