National Ecumenical Forum For Filipino Concerns-inland Empire

The National Ecumenical Forum for Filipino Concerns-Inland Empire promotes cultural unity and social justice through intercultural dialogue, community service, and advocacy, aiming to uplift Filipino communities and address pressing issues in the Philippines.

National Ecumenical Forum for Filipino Concerns – Inland Empire (NEFFCON-IE) and its cornerstone program, the Philippine American Intercultural School – Inland Empire (PAIS-IE) in collaboration with the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (NAFCON) and the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette present Pista Ng Lahi (Celebration of Heritage), the inaugural Fr. Antonio “Tony” G. Abuan, MS, Bayanihan Disaster Response Benefit Show. This event will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, in the parish hall of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1234 Palm Avenue, Beaumont, California. Doors will open at 4:00 PM, and the show will begin at 5:30 PM. Pista Ng Lahi is the culmination of the five-year endeavor of PAIS-IE, an intentional, intergenerational, and intercultural experience rooted in Bayanihan (the Filipino spirit of communal unity, cooperation, and collective action):

To serve as a bridge between the past and the future;

To address the path of unity in diversity through intercultural dialogue;

To promote human dignity and rights, equality and freedom, justice, peace and integrity of creation; and

To share one another's native culture and invite one another in solidarity with each other's aspirations.

This benefit honors the life and legacy of Rev. Antonio “Tony” G. Abuan, MS. In addition to his parish responsibilities in the Diocese of San Bernardino from 2004 to 2014 and from 2018 until his passing in 2020, Fr. Tony was an outstanding co-founder of NEFFCON-IE and served as its Vice Chairperson from 2018 through 2020; he was also the first Treasurer of the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (NAFCON) and Director of the Diocesan Filipino Ministry, Diocese of San Bernardino from 2004 to 2010. Fr. Tony continually reminded us that true discipleship integrates “prayer and action, contemplation and mission” and called upon us to give “Voice to the Voiceless.” Proceeds will benefit the rehabilitation of communities in the Philippines devastated by severe flooding from Typhoons Tino and Uwan and aggravated by substandard infrastructure and ghost projects due to government corruption. We envision Pista Ng Lahi as more than a series of individual cultural performances. Through history, storytelling, video and audio, poetry, music, song, dance, and intercultural encounter, the program will take our audience on a shared historical journey exploring Creation, Indigenous Wisdom, and Humanity's Connection to Earth through present-day realities. NEFFCON-IE is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 82-2588848). All contributions are subject to IRS regulations governing charitable donations. All payments are tax-deductible as permitted by law and are non-refundable.
