Nepean Community Support Services empowers individuals and families facing challenges by providing essential support, resources, and workshops. Their mission is to foster resilience and healing, particularly for those affected by trauma and gender-based violence.

Get ready to be part of a movement that is changing the future for children right here in our community.&nbsp; We invite you to join us for the launch of our After 3 Matters Spring Campaign Luncheon, an inspiring afternoon dedicated to powering the vital programs that support our local youth during those critical hours after the school bell rings.&nbsp; You&rsquo;ll enjoy a delicious complimentary lunch while hearing first-hand stories of impact, discovering how your support provides a safe haven, healthy snacks, sports and crafts supplies, the fees for gym rental space as well as essential mentorship for students between the ages of 7 and 12 in the Parkwood Hills and Manordale/Woodvale neighbourhoods. It&rsquo;s more than just a meal, it&rsquo;s an opportunity to come together with fellow community leaders and neighbours to ensure every child has the tools they need to thrive. This year&rsquo;s luncheon features interactive games, exciting prizes, and a deep dive into the heart of the After 3 Matters mission. After 3 Matters Spring Campaign Luncheon

Join us on June 16th 2026 from 10:00am - 3:00pm at Tanglewood Community Centre for The Importance of Family: Understanding Family Trauma and Care After Sexual Violence workshop, facilitated by Charlotte Tautrim.&nbsp; Charlotte holds a Master of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University, an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Guelph, and a Master&rsquo;s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She is currently completing her PhD at Yorkville University, with a research focus on family systems and the impact of PTSD in survivors of sexual assault on both survivors and their families. Following her MBA, Charlotte spent 25 years working in Supply Management before transitioning into private practice in Toronto. She now works with individuals coping with trauma and supports couples where one or both partners are neurodivergent, including ADHD, ASD, and giftedness.&nbsp; This workshop will discuss the broad impact of gender-based violence on victims and those who support them. A family&#39;s experience after a child or loved one has been harmed is broad and complex. Parents, partners, and siblings of victims may experience the aftermath of trauma in unique ways. This group is often unseen by formal service providers, as their primary focus is on the victim and the immediate trauma. As a result, access to resources may be limited for these individuals. This workshop encourages formal support providers (victim services, police, first responders, and therapists) to see families, not only as victims of secondary trauma, but also as a valuable support system for victims. This workshop is a unique opportunity to understand the experiences and challenges that families may face, as well as the approaches that may best assist them as they struggle to support victims of gender-based violence. This workshop is open to all mental health workers, primary care providers, guidance counsellors, police, and social service providers.
