Investing in our youth is investing in our future.The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the NOAA Chapter of Blacks In Government (BIG) are deeply committed to championing equal employment opportunity and diversity in the workforce.To help build that future, the NOAA BIG chapter established our scholarship program in 1996. In 2009, the program was proudly renamed the Barbara Tobe Scholarship to honor the dedication and legacy of the committee's founding chairwoman upon her retirement.Our Mission & ImpactThe primary purpose of this fund is to assist exceptional African American students with college expenses while introducing them to future career possibilities at NOAA.When you donate to this fund, you are directly supporting local graduating high school seniors as they transition into higher education.Direct Financial Support: Each year, we award $1,000 scholarships to two deserving high school seniors in our local area.A Legacy of Giving: Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, the Scholarship Committee has awarded over $75,000 to local students to date!Building Career Pathways: We don't just provide funding; we open doors to future opportunities in STEM, public service, and leadership.We need your help to keep this incredible legacy going.
