Nomad Theatre Collective

LXCL:Founded in 2025 by a quartet of former work colleagues-turned-friends, Nomad fosters community in Michiana through live theatrical performances, exploring contemporary themes, and showcasing stories that reflect local voices. By producing works created by and for the community, we strive to keep theatre a shared, inclusive, and meaningful experience for all. Large language models have been trained on thousands of books and scripts, meaning entire scenes can be generated with just a few strokes of the keyboard. But should generative AI have a role in the theatre? And would audiences be able to tell the difference between a genuine Eboni Booth or Tennessee Williams and plays generated to merely resemble them? Nomad Theatre Collective is exploring these questions through a night of 10-minute plays, all written by real, human artists &mdash; except one. A panel discussion will follow, featuring guests Professor Susan Baxter (Saint Mary&rsquo;s College), Micah Spiece (Wayne State University), and Professor Joshua Wells (Indiana University-South Bend).

On an alternate Earth, the President&#39;s daughter, Helena Glory, travels to the island manufacturing facility for Rossum&rsquo;s Universal Robots, a corporation that produces synthetic humanoid laborers, to convince CEO Harry Domin that the robots have souls and deserve fair conditions and humane treatment. Despite assurances from Domin and his management team that the robots have no souls or feelings, Helena sets out to help her robot brothers and sisters however she can, even to her own detriment.&nbsp; A prescient tale about A.I. takeover, as well as an examination of labor relations and what it means to be human, R.U.R.: Rossum&rsquo;s Universal Robots remains as relevant as when it was first performed over a century ago in the aftermath of World War I and the advent of mass production.
