After 20+ years of use the Simcoe Splash Pad is in rough shape. The concrete pad is deteriorating and needs to be replaced. There is a fear that without immediate attention the splash pad could close and because the Annaleise Carr pool will be closed during the summer, the cooling, family friendly environment of the splash pad is more important during our sweltering summer months. Also, because the County has not budgeted for the repairs, any closure would be lengthy.The Simcoe Kin Club is endeavouring to raise the $80,000 needed for the necessary repairs and has achieved three quarters of that amount - BUT needs community support to get to the goal. Any donation, $20.00, $50.00, $100.00 or more can help achieve the goal.Fundraising for the splash pad is slower than expected due to fundraising for other higher profile and important projects in the community.The children of Norfolk must not be overlooked and the splash pad is a safe, fully accessible and inclusive play destination for them.

David Henry Seely spent nearly four decades calling Norfolk County home, and in that time he became exactly the kind of person a community is built around. A dedicated member of Trinity Anglican Church, a proud Lion, and a tireless fundraiser, David understood instinctively that good causes need good people willing to show up.Perhaps nowhere was that more evident than his 15 years of involvement with the Norfolk General Hospital Golf Tournament, through which he helped raise over one million dollars for local healthcare. David had a rare gift: the ability to bring people together in support of something larger than themselves.In honouring his memory, the Seely family has invited donations to Norfolk Community Foundation. Gifts made here will support the community David loved and served so faithfully throughout his life.
