Nu Sass Productions

Nu Sass Productions champions bold theatre that uplifts marginalized genders in the arts, creating inclusive spaces and nurturing new works. They aim to transform the DC arts scene through sustainable leadership and equitable opportunities.

Nu Sass is turning a milestone birthday into a night of celebration, fundraising, and most importantly...Broadway. One night at Van Ness Main Street: It's time to take that shower solo out of the bathroom and onto the stage! Come join us as we sing along (loudly) with a fantastically whimsical DJ armed with every showtune you've ever belted in the car. There will be a dance floor, a bar, and a room full of people screaming Defying Gravity so loudly that the neighbors will be concerned. 🎶 Donations appreciated! Your gift supports Nu Sass — the DC theater company that turns classic showtunes on their head and centers artists too often pushed to the margins. We celebrate theater where casting, costume, design, and performance aren't confined by prescribed gender, age, body type, or race — bold, inclusive work made for years on passion and the generosity of people like you. Free to attend. Give if the spirit moves you, every dollar goes straight back to the stage. 🌈 Do you hear the people sing? You will. Loudly. There will be cake. 🎂 📅 Saturday, October 3 · 7:45 PM til late 📍 Van Ness Main Street 🎭 Dress: your inner theater kid — sequins, capes, Playbills, or just something you can dance in 🥂 21+ · Free to attend · Donations very welcome

🌟 Help Nu Sass Keep the Lights On (and the Stage Alive) 🌟Earlier this year, Nu Sass Productions unexpectedly lost our primary performance space. We made it happen… but at a much higher cost than we planned for. Now, we need your help. We’re working to raise $10,000 to cover these unexpected venue and operating expenses so we can continue supporting the hundreds of artists and audiences who rely on Nu Sass each year—especially women, nonbinary, and trans artists who deserve space to create, lead, and be seen.💥 How you can help:

Donate: Every dollar directly supports artists, venues, and keeping our productions accessible.

Share: Help us reach new supporters by spreading the word.

Show Up: Come to a show, bring a friend, and be part of the community you’re helping sustain.

Nu Sass exists because of people like you. 🌟 Keep the Sirens Singing (and the Stage Sinfully Alive) 🌟The Sirens of Sin are calling—and we need you to answer. The Sirens create bold, unapologetic burlesque that celebrates sensuality, power, queerness, and radical self-expression. Every performance is more than a show—it’s a gender-inclusive, body positive space where performers can take the spotlight on their own terms and audiences can revel in something daring, joyful, and liberating. To keep that magic alive, we’re working to raise $3,000 to support upcoming performances, pay artists, and ensure the Sirens can continue bringing their electrifying work to the stage. 💥 How you can help:Donate: Every dollar goes directly to supporting performers and producing future shows.Share: Help us grow the Sirens’ circle by spreading the word.Show Up: Come to a show, bring your friends, and be part of the community that makes this work possible. The Sirens don’t just perform—they summon something powerful every time they take the stage.Your support ensures that power continues to rise.Thank you for being part of it. 💜

The Sirens of Sin 2026 Fundraiser

We're Trying Something Big & Need Your Help For 17 years, Nu Sass has created bold theatre supporting marginalized genders in the arts — all powered by labors of love, passion, and grit. We’ve challenged norms, nurtured new works, and created artistic homes for gender-marginalized artists who rarely see themselves prioritized on DC stages. But to sustain and grow this work, Nu Sass must evolve. For the past decade, our Artistic Director has managed Nu Sass while working full time as a nonprofit fundraising professional - more than a decade using her skills to help other organizations grow. But that stability came at a cost: we were never able to bring her full leadership to Nu Sass every day, even when we knew that doing so could transform the company. Then something unexpected happened - our Artistic Director had to take 10 months off from full time work to pursue beast cancer treatment. During those 10 months, the only work she could physically and emotionally manage was running Nu Sass — and even in that incredibly difficult season, the company grew significantly. That proved something essential:When allowed to bring her full expertise to Nu Sass, we thrive. Now we have the rare opportunity to bring our Artistic Director to Nu Sass full time.We are attempting to raise $85,000 to fund Nu Sass’s first full-time W-2 Artistic/Executive Director position — with full healthcare coverage. We've raised over $30,000 in gifts and pledges so far, and we need your help to cross the finish line. This amount covers:- $65,000 for a sustainable salary- $10,000 for an annual healthcare premium- $3,000 for a 5% retirement contribution- $7,000 for all employer taxes and insurance required by lawThis is the real cost of ethical, sustainable leadership in DC.Your investment ensures:- Fair wages and healthcare for a cancer survivor- Expanded paid opportunities for queer and feminist artists- Long-term planning and season development- Stronger fundraising and community partnerships- Continued growth of a company that has already proven what it can become when leadership has the capacity to leadIf Nu Sass has ever made you laugh, cry, feel powerful, feel seen — this is your moment to invest in its future.
