Players Philanthropy Fund DBA The Sweat For Breath Foundation

The Sweat For Breath Foundation raises funds and awareness for ALK+ lung cancer, supporting research and patient programs to improve lives and combat stigma. Founded by a survivor, it aims for a future where lung cancer is manageable and curable.

**Total does not reflect amount raised offline** David&rsquo;s Story David was diagnosed with Stage IV ALK+ lung cancer at 38 years old. &nbsp;His diagnosis was a complete surprise -- he is a never-smoker, former Division 1 athlete, and very healthy otherwise. David is married with two young kids (5 and 2 at the time of diagnosis). He&rsquo;s currently taking a drug approved only in 2021 as a first-line treatment for ALK+ lung cancer and is doing well. Sweat for Breath Foundation After being diagnosed, David became keenly aware that his treatment wouldn&#39;t be possible without the fundraising and awareness efforts of the patients before him. To support the next generation ALK+ lung cancer patients, David, and his wife Lisa, established the Sweat For Breath Foundation, operating through a fiscal sponsorship with Players Philanthropy Fund, a Texas nonprofit corporation recognized by IRS as a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Federal Tax ID: 27-6601178,ppf.org/pp).&nbsp; Today, the Sweat For Breath Foundation aims to extend and improve the lives of people with ALK+ lung cancer by raising funds for cutting-edge research and patient support programs and promoting awareness that anyone can get lung cancer and no one deserves to get lung cancer.&nbsp;&nbsp;We envision a world where ALK+ lung cancer is a chronic or even curable condition and the next person diagnosed with lung cancer does not have to live under the current stigma. Our Impact In its first three years, Sweat For Breath Foundation has raised over $1.1 million for lung cancer research, most of it going to The Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center in Baltimore, MD (David&rsquo;s hometown). This funding has been crucial to the launch of the world&rsquo;s first ALK+ peptide vaccine clinical trial, which began in 2024. This trial is currently underway and being led by Dr. Vincent Lam, an ALK+ lung cancer specialist at Johns Hopkins who is also David&#39;s oncologist. This type of research is critical for ALK+ lung cancer patients Worldwide -- many of whom are young, otherwise healthy patients like David who are running out of available treatment options.
