Quilts for Care Leavers NI

Quilts for Care Leavers NI provides comfort and support to young people transitioning from care by creating personalized quilts. They empower individuals through sewing workshops, fostering skills and community connections for a brighter future.

We have places to book if you are new to sewing and would like some tuition on a sewing machine. The tuition starts at 11.00 am daily, and we have six bookable places.

St. Patrick&#39;s Pastoral Centre was built primarily for social activities related to the churches that make up the Parish of Lisburn. Lisburn Sew Days

We are now holding our Q4CLNI workshops at Bleary Rural Community Hall.The hall is easy to access and offers a bright, spacious environment for a full day of sewing. There is ample on-site parking, with level access into the building, making it straightforward to bring your sewing machine and equipment.Kitchen facilities are available on-site, and tea and coffee can be prepared in the hall. Some attendees choose to bring a packed lunch, while others may head out locally for food depending on preference. As always, we will bring along biscuits to share.We ask for &pound;10 per session to help cover hall hire costs. If you attend two Q4CLNI events, your third session is free.Our group includes a wide range of experience levels, and everyone is friendly, supportive, and happy to help with any questions or challenges throughout the day.The day itself is relaxed and flexible. You can work on block drive pieces, assemble quilt tops, or bring along your own Q4CLNI project to continue or complete. Lurgan Sew Days

The Everglades Hotel in Derry-Londonderry, known for its welcoming atmosphere and beautiful riverside location, generously supports local initiatives by providing space for community events. With its spacious meeting areas and vibrant setting, the hotel is an ideal venue for group activities such as charity sew days. These gatherings are hosted by Quilts for Care Leavers NI (Q4CLNI), a charity dedicated to crafting and gifting handmade quilts to young people transitioning from the care system.&nbsp; Thanks to the Everglades Hotel&rsquo;s hospitality, Q4CLNI volunteers can come together to create &lsquo;quilted hugs&rsquo;&mdash;offering comfort, encouragement, and support to care leavers throughout Northern Ireland as they start their independent journeys.

Derry - Londonderry Sew Days

Sew days are very relaxed, tea, coffee and biscuits are provided; you can bring your own mug if you have a favourite!There is no food facility at the church hall, but there are a few hot food outlets nearby, most people bring a packed lunch. **** Please Note - This is a Nut Free Zone **** We meet in a large hall which is straight in front of the entrance doors which are to the right of the church main doors.Plenty of parking and is all level access to the hall.We ask for &pound;10 to cover hall hire but if you go to two Q4CLNI events you get the third one free. There is a mixture of experience within the group, and everyone is very approachable and happy to help with any issues that arise on the day.The day is usually made up by making block drive blocks so we can complete a top, piecing blocks, adjusting tops to make them fit our sizing, looking at donated items to see how we can adapt them into a top. It&rsquo;s an all sorts of everything day, bring along your own Q4CLNI project to finish, we are sure you will find something to keep you busy.All you need to bring is:Sewing machineSewing accessories &ndash; thread, pins etc.If you forget anything someone will I&rsquo;m sure will have bought it.
