UPDATE Dec 2025A separate Mission project in Zimbabwe has raised support to build 12 of our bulletproof dome homes. Part of my crew will be flying to Zimbabwe in the spring to the locals how to build.Oct 2025Our crew will be building a 14 dome home style resort in the beach city of Pemba. (Prone to cyclones) This will provide training and employment for dozens for over a year of construction. Addressing the Housing Crisis in Northern Mozambique with a radical plan of self sustainability.In the wake of Cyclone CHIDO, the villages of Northern Mozambique have been devastated. Families have lost their homes, livelihoods, and security. RadicalHomes.org has been at the forefront of building durable, sustainable, and cyclone-resistant homes using only bamboo, recycled mosquito net, chicken wire, rebar, concrete and locally sourced labor. While this method has proven highly successful, the urgency of the current crisis demands a more efficient solution.We are seeking funding to invest in a faster, scalable, and long-term solution by incorporating EcoShell inflatable structures and modern construction equipment into our building process. This investment will allow us to provide safe, permanent homes to cyclone-affected families in record time, without compromising on strength or sustainability.The Need • Devastation from Cyclone CHIDO: Entire villages have been flattened. Families are left exposed to the elements with temporary solutions like tin sheets or tarps. These “quick fixes” are not sustainable: • Tin roofs require expensive timber that is prone to termites and fire. • Tin rusts quickly, gets blown away by strong winds, and contributes to illegal logging. • Current Solution: Radical Homes’ dome home have been a success, producing homes that are: • Bulletproof, fireproof, termite-proof, and cyclone-proof. • Cost-effective at 3,400-3,800 USD per home. • Built with local labor, empowering communities. • However, each home takes 2-3 months to construct, which is too slow given the scale of this crisis.Our Solution: EcoShell Dome HomesTo meet the immediate need for safe housing, we propose adopting EcoShell inflatable structures from MonolithicDomes.org.How EcoShell Works: 1. Inflatable Airform: A durable inflatable shell is placed on the building site. 2. Concrete Application: Using a ShotCrete squeeze pump, concrete is sprayed over the inflated Airform. 3. Our family survives from our savings or from my fishing job in Alaska..Dear friends and family,News with a heavy heart… and at the same time, filled with hope.Last night, one of our own— Papa Ambrosio, one of our elderly guards—lost everything in a house fire. The fire broke out around 11 PM. By God’s grace, he and his wife survived, but both were injured and are now receiving care at the hospital in Balama. Their home, their belongings… everything is gone.Ambrosio isn’t just an employee to us. He’s family. He’s also one of the boldest believers I know—never shy about praying over meals, over our workers, even when others say it’s not necessary. He Blessed you even when you thought you didn't need it. He walks the walk daily.Right now, our team on the ground is doing what they can. They’re gathering bamboo and grass to build another roof —just enough to give Ambrosio and his wife some cover while we figure out the next step.And that’s where I’d like to invite you in.Our Priority Goal: Build Ambrosio a Safe HomeOur first and most urgent goal is to build Ambrosio a permanent, fireproof home.The cost for a 750 sq ft dome home is approximately $4,200–$4,400.This would give him something he’s never truly had before—a home that cannot be taken away by fire, termites, or storms.If We Surpass That GoalIf we are able to raise more than what is needed for the home: • We will furnish the house with basic essentials—beds, cooking supplies, and daily necessities to help them restart their lives.If We Go Even FurtherAny additional funds beyond that will go toward our next planned project:A women’s beauty salon and sewing (tailoring) center, designed to create income opportunities for 7–8 young women in our village while eventually providing long-term support for a local widow.This project has the potential to multiply impact—turning one building into ongoing provision for multiple families.⸻I know times are hard. Gas prices are high.
