Are you ready to go to the Kentucky Derby? &nbsp;The Spring Fling on May 2, 2026 is a Kentucky Derby theme. So, grab your Derby hat and head to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Church at 3313 Wade Avenue, Raleigh NC &nbsp;27607. &nbsp;We will start at 10:00 am and ending at Noon. Come join your fellow ASG members for a wonderful morning at the Kentucky Derby remember to wear your Kentucky Derby hat.&nbsp;&nbsp;NOTE:Spring Fling Attendees!Just a reminder that this year, we will have an adoption table at the Spring Fling. 🎉 Excitement is in the air! Get ready to be part of something extraordinary at Raleigh NC Chapter of American Sewing Guild&#39;s 2-day Local Raleigh Sewing Retreat. We will be be sewing at the Hilton Garden Inn 6412 Capital Blvd Raleigh NC.&nbsp;Book your room now since the ASG rate is only good until March 18, 2026. At the Fairfield Inn, 6408 Capital Blvd, Raleigh NC, a King room is $129.00 and a double Queen room is $139.00. 2026 Raleigh 2-Day Retreat

2026 Spring Sewing Retreat

Sewing by the Sea Spring RetreatOctober 29 - November 2, 2025Crystal Coast Oceanfront Hotel511 Salter Path Road, Atlantic Beach NC  252.247.4155 Crystal Coast Oceanfront Hotel will once again be the venue for the fall retreat, Sewing by the Sea II from 4:00 pm Wednesday,October 29 until 10:00 am Sunday, November 2, 2025.  NOTE: our reservation for the fall retreat can be extended - you can check in early for the same price and check out on November 3. We have an additional sewing day all day on Sunday. So this gives us 4 1/2 days of peaceful sewing and fellowship with fellow sewists. Come join fellow sewists for 3 1/2 days of sewing and fellowship. Fellowship is the friendly association, especially with people who share one’s interests.  This definition fully embodies a sewing retreat.  Bring your own projects whether new, old, or UFO’s and sew to your hearts content from sunrise to sunset and beyond - maybe even all night if you are so moved.Registration is capped at 17 due to the number of tables available at the venue. The cost is $95.00 which covers the cost of the sewing room. 2025 Lake Royale Sewing Day

2025 April 2-Day  Local Retreat

I know we have not even had the Fall Retreat, but we need to have commitment 90 days before the date of the Retreat.We are returning to the Crystal Coast Oceanfront Hotel (AKA The Inn at Pine Knoll Shores).  We have always had a great sewing experience at the Crystal Coast.  We are scheduled to be there March 19-23, 2025 from early morning until late at night to work on sewing projects and to fellowship with fellow sewists.  Rooms are $94.00 for a double room. That is, double occupancy would be $45/person.  This is more than last spring but less than the Fall Retreat at Crystal Coast.  They have finished their renovations and prices have gone up, but so have the prices at other places that I looked at.  So hopefully we will have a full group gathered for the retreat.  There is a maximum of 18 sewists for this retreat due to the space that we are in for the retreat. Sewing by Sea 2025 Spring Retreat

Fall Retreat – Sewing by the Sea IIAfter cancelling the Fall Sewing Retreat in the Mountains, I started looking for alternatives for a sewing retreat.  I checked the Wilmington NC area, and all the   venues were so expensive that I would have had no one coming to the retreat.  Based on the survey results, Myrtle Beach was a place some sewists wanted to return to.  So, Sun N Sand Resort gave us a nice rate and other concessions to make it an affordable place to have our Fall Retreat on November 6-10, 2024.  Sun N Sand Resort is an Ocean Front resort overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.  It is in the heart of Myrtle Beach, within 2 miles or less of the main attractions.   All rooms have coffee makers, microwaves, and refrigerators along with the normal hotel amenities.  The Resort itself has complimentary parking, outdoor/indoor pool, a fitness center, laundry facilities, and direct beach access.   Our room rate is $49.00 for Wednesday & Thursday and $59.00 for Friday and Saturday.  The room is Ocean View with upgrades to Ocean view with efficiency an extra $5.00 per night, Ocean front with balcony an extra $10.00 per night, Ocean front with balcony and efficiency an extra $15.00 per night, Ocean view Suite an extra $25.00 per night, and Ocean front Suite an extra $35.00 per night.                                               Our best rate will be if I can get 10+ rooms booked.  A deposit of $115.00 will hold a reservation for you for Sewing by the Sea II but a reservation must be made at Sun N Sand Resort 2701 South Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach SC  29577;  phone number 843.839.9375.  Be sure to mention American Sewing Guild, to receive the group rate.  Remember to make your hotel reservation after registering on Zeffy.  Reservations need to be made by July 25, 2024, at 9:00 pm. Sewing by the Sea II - Crystal Coast

Calling all sewists for a day of sewing in Chapel Hill. I have set up a sewing day at the Sienna Hotel 1505 E Franklin Street Chapel Hill for Sunday, September 29. 2024 from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm.  The reason for a Sunday schedule is that the Sienna Hotel would waive the food requirement for the Tuscany Room, thus keeping the cost down.  With the Tuscany Room, I have a limit of 30 sewists that I can accommodate.  I would be so ecstatic if I had 30 sewist for the day. The cost will be $35.00.  I have also contacted Mulbury Silks to see if they would open for a brief period for the group. Coachman’s Trail 2-day Sewing Retreat             Greetings Fellow SewistsYou wanted more local sewing retreats, and we are giving you that.  There will be a 2-day retreat at Coachman’s Trail Clubhouse from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm on Thursday, August 8, 2024, and Friday, August 9, 2024.  There is a maximum of 14 sewists.  Each sewist will need to share an 8ft table with another sewist due to Coachman’s Trail only having 6 eight-foot table and two 6-foot tables.  Plan to bring new projects, old projects, unfinished projects, or anything that you need help with.  There will be plenty of knowledge present to help you with the problem.  Bring any sewing project to keep  you busy for the two days.

Thanks to the generosity of the Raleigh NC Chapter of the ASG, I have everything I need to get started! &nbsp;They even donated some really pretty fabric to get my creative juices flowing!&nbsp;Your donation will make this dream come true for another student. Physical donations of notions, fabric, and other needed supplies are welcome. Sew Day Info:Have you ever wanted to go to a sewing retreat but could not commit to the time away from home or a job? Join your fellow sewist for this one-day event. This event has been extremely successful the last couple of years. &nbsp;Come join in the camaraderie for the day. You will get some undivided time to sew or get help on a sewing project that you are having trouble with. The knowledge base of fellow sewists is extremely deep. You will get exceptional help with any problem, or you may gain knowledge from someone else&rsquo;s problem. For your $25.00 you will get 6 hours of undivided sewing time, a 6- or 8-foot table to sew on, and at least one chair. No sharing tables here. But as we have all said, &ldquo;Once I get all set up the table seems so small.&rdquo; &nbsp;Please do not arrive before 9:45 am to give time to set up the room to accommodate the sewists. Along with Fall comes our Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting is our second all membership gathering of the year for our Chapter. Our Annual Meeting is when we meet our newly elected officers for the next year and find out if anyone was recommended for the Order of the Needle. There will be an adoption table set up for you to browse for material or other sewing things. &nbsp;This is a very popular aspect of the Annual Meeting.&nbsp;Come join us for this exciting day. The cost is only $25.00 and includes lunch. Lunch will be catered by Hope Valley Catering. The guest speaker will be Kristene Furan from Connecting with Threads, a nonprofit based in Durham. They provide education about sewing and quilting in order to nurture our broader community by giving the quilts, bags, and other handmade products. The group sponsors several events to build a community of sewists and givers. They build a community of people who support each other as well as their community through informal Sew with Us sessions. Join us for the 2027 Raleigh 2-Day Retreat 🧵✨ &mdash; a relaxed weekend focused on sewing, learning, and connecting with fellow ASG members. 1. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Raleigh 2-Day Sewing Retreat &ndash; I have been asked, &ldquo;Why a 2-Day retreat when we can sew for 3 days?&rdquo; &nbsp;The reason is that we pay for 2 days but can sew on the third day if not one books the room on Sunday. &nbsp;Since we cannot depend on the availability for ASG use of the room, it is just easier to have it a 2-Day retreat with a bonus of the third day, if available.The sewing room will be located at the Hilton Garden Inn 6412 Capital Blvd, Raleigh NC 27616. &nbsp;Rooms for those wishing to stay overnight will be at the Fairfield Inn &amp; Suites 6408 Capital Blvd, Raleigh NC 27616. &nbsp;The Fairfield Inn &amp; Suites is just across the parking lot from the Hilton.
