Watershed University Programs &ndash; Summer 2026 offers hands-on learning with Raritan Headwaters! Through field studies, data collection, and guided exploration, you&rsquo;ll see how streams, wetlands, and forests work together to keep our water clean, and meet the scientists, experts, activists and artists that help protect and bring awareness to these vital resources! These programs are for high school students entering grades 9-12. Our Morning Art in Nature programs invite you to slow down and notice the details that often go unseen! Using simple art activities, we&rsquo;ll explore the flora, fauna, and scenery of Fairview Farm. Participants will be guided by artist and naturalist Alison Kavchok for a restorative and creative morning! All supplies provided and all skill levels are welcome! Your time outdoors supports Raritan Headwaters Association&rsquo;s mission to protect the Raritan River headwaters and ensure clean, safe water for our communities now and in the future.

Motorcyclists looking to support a great cause are invited to join Ride for the River, benefiting Raritan Headwaters Association (RHA), a nonprofit conservation organization. The rides takes bikers on a scenic tour of backroads in New Jersey&rsquo;s Upper Raritan River watershed across Hunterdon, Somerset, and Morris counties. The country roads featured include many that parallel or cross iconic rivers and streams. Ride for the River is a solo run that can be completed between April 22nd, Earth Day and July 21st. The goal is to raise $8,000 to support RHA&rsquo;s work to protect the health of the region&rsquo;s open spaces, rivers, streams, and critical drinking water resources. It&rsquo;s a fun, leisurely ride that showcases the beauty of the watershed and the natural resources the Association works to protect. Thank you for supporting our conservation mission!!

Ride for the River

Come join us on the pond at Raritan Headwaters&#39; Fairview Farm Wildlife Preserve for a fun-filled day of fishing! Calling all junior anglers (under 18)! Join us at Raritan Headwaters Association (RHA) for a fun-filled morning of fishing and exploration at Fairview Farm Wildlife Preserve. What to expect:&nbsp;<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Expert instruction on baiting hooks, casting lines, and reeling in your catch!&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Learn about different fish species and responsible fishing practices.&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Fun activities and prizes for all participants.&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Refreshments and light snacks provided.</li></ul>Open to all kids under 18. Bring your grown-up crew. Parents and siblings are welcome too! No fishing license or trout stamp is needed for anyone age 16 or older because June 6 is NJDEP Free Fishing Day. Create Whimsical Crafts in the spirit of Lantern Walk! Join us for a creative, hands-on workshop inspired by the movement and beauty of water!&nbsp; This is a special workshop where community members can create beautiful, nature-inspired pieces to wear or carry during our Lantern Walk. You&rsquo;re welcome to attend the workshop simply for the fun of creating&mdash;participation in the Lantern Walk is not required&mdash;but we would love to see your creations flowing alongside the lanterns! Our Creations Will Include: - Whimsical Cloud Hats - Design wearable clouds inspired by the sky&mdash;dreamy, playful, and perfect for bringing a little weather-inspired magic wherever you go. - River Suits &mdash;wearable works of art inspired by the colors, movement, and textures of flowing water!&nbsp; - Handmade Fish Lanterns - Create glowing fish inspired by the creatures that swim through our local rivers and streams. - Underwater Parasols - Transform parasols into underwater-inspired works of art, decorating them with colors, textures, and flowing elements inspired by rivers, fish, aquatic plants, bubbles, and other watery wonders. Stations will be set up so participants can create one or all four projects under the guidance of our educators and artists! All participants will receive a discount to our Lantern Walk event on November 1!

Cloud Hats, Fish Lanterns, and River Suits, Oh My!

Raritan Headwaters continues the tradition of celebrating a historic European festival celebrating autumn at the end of the agricultural year and the beginning of the harvest. Festive music plays as we carry our lanterns through the meadows of Fairview Farm Wildlife Preserve on a moonlit night. Each ticket includes a lantern, face painting, flower crown, apple cider, and snacks. Guided walks will be available at 3:30, 4:30, 5:30, and 6:30pm. Guests are also welcome to enjoy a self-guided walk anytime, following the trail luminaries. Make sure to bundle up and wear sturdy shoes. Costumes and magical accessories are welcome! Make sure to stop by the Testo Pizza&nbsp;truck on site for delicious, wood-fired pizza (not included with your ticket).
